Default event horizon

after watching this film yet again i thought of a few things.
Is this what happens if you travel without a gellea field?

In event horizon the ship travels to hell and back...if that is what the warp and the forces of chaos really are then does that mean GW will bring out an anti-warp heaven based force of angles, saints and ascended souls? ... sounds good to me

i think it would be considered 'lucky' if a ship travelled through the warp that quickly inspite of the lack of a Gellar Field. generally when ships travel in the warp without a navigator guiding them (who would be killed within minutes without a protective field), then they become stuck, either for a very long time, or permenantly.

as for the crew being entirely consumed and the ship taking on a malignant life of its own, i would have imagined that was about par for the course.

it wouldn't surprise me one iota if the writters of Event Horizon had been inspired by 40k. the similarities are quite obvious and i can't think of any other fiction that contains the same themes and elements.

That was actually quite the cool movie.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

It was an awesome movie, and yes, it very much reminded me of 'what happens if your geller field breaks down?' kind of 40k scenario. As for how long it spent in there, remember, it could have spent say 10000 years in the warp while only a few years passed in the real world, or just 10 minutes.

yeah, but my point was that, generally speaking, if a ship is 'lost in the warp' then it will emerge considerably later according to real world chronology. not always, but in the vast majority of examples, it is the case.

This film was weird. Only saw the last half hour or so, obviously that helped on confusing me but I had no idea what

But other than that it was a pretty good film, i'd give it a seven out of ten

Nyctophobia- Fear of the Dark Angel.

"No one ever spoke about of those two absent brothers. Their separate tragedies had seemed like aberrations. Had they, in fact, been warnings that no one had heeded?"

'Killing a man is like fucking, boy, only instead of giving life you take it. You experience the ecstasy of penetration as your warhead enters the enemy's belly and the shaft follows. You see the whites of his eyes roll inside the sockets of his helmet. You feel his knees give way beneath him and the weight of his faltering flesh draw down the point of your spear. Are you picturing this?'
'Yes, lord.'
'Is your dick hard yet?'
'No, lord.'
''What? You've got your spear in a man's guts and your dog isn't stiff? What are you, a woman?'

The Event Horizon travelled to a different dimension... not specifically Hell, but to be honest... with that kinda crazy crap going on you'd think it was Hell itself!

In my opinion the 'Warp' is best shown by Bab5's hyperspace... the award for the effect of the Warp upon humans is certainly won by Event Horizon though.

As for the 'anti-warp' force... surely the SoB's claim that title? Angels, saints and ascended souls... :o)

"The crew discovers that although the ship's drive successfully opened a gateway in space-time, it led outside the known universe and into another dimension, described as "pure chaos, pure evil". The Event Horizon's log shows the original crew activating the gravity drive and, moments later, engaging in a frenzy of torture, self-mutilation, cannibalism, murder and rape."

Wikipedia baby!

Sure sounds like "going into the warp without your gellar field" 40K stuff/fluff to me.
