GI Joe curiosity

Has anyone seen GI Joe yet? If they have, I am curious on your opinions about it. So far all the reviews I have read gave it a 2 star rating out of 5, which I believe is just plain wrong. I have seen the movie, and yes it has used parts from other movies, but almost everything has already been done. Personally, I was surprised how good it was, and it became my favorite movie of all time and can't wait for a sequel!

i really liked it as well, it wasnt AMAZING. but it gave me a good impression, much like the newer batman movies, and ironman.

the only part that i criticized is the ending, they basically killed any chance of a good sequel imo

but of all the summer movies ive seen, its the best so far.

Dude I work at the movies and like 85% of all the people who walk out say it sucked and wasn't ANY like the cartoon show, and people always ask me if its good cause they say they heard it sucked.

They hyped everything up and like Cobra Commander wasn't anything like he was in the show, you barley see him and at the end he tried to run for like 3 mins then get caught. Action is HORRIBLE, barley anyone dies and even then when they do its like off screen like 99% of the time and its like barley bloody.

Nothing like the Batmans or Ironman it was just really really bad dudes.

It's just got nothing else apart from explosions and fights. Which is all well and good, but i like some plot.

The key to this film, which I think most people miss is that it is aimed at a 'younger' audience. My lad who is almost 12, and he loved it. I liked it, and ignoring plot defects is the name of the game when watching these films.

To be honest the whole film was a setup for several sequels.

I'm going to wait for it to hit DVD.

From what I've heard, it's a pretty good action movie. If you;re just watching it because it looks like a good, fun blockbuster you won;t be disappointed (though some say it;s a little too formula/average in that regard)

If you're looking to watch it because you want it to be like the cartoon, or even on the comics that it supposedly takes its cues from, you're likely to be very pissed off, or at least disappointed. Most of the characters are very different than what they should be, and it lost a lot of its original appeal by trying to take itself too seriously.

Anyhow, like I said, I haven;t seen it, but I will when it hits DVD. from all I;ve heard it;s good if you just want an action blockbuster, but if you;re a serious fan of the franchise you're likely to be disappointed

All action for sure and the old time references (knowing is half the battle, etc) were very obvious and crammed in. Otherwise though it was a decent movie, worth watching.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?
