I miss Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip...that show was awesome for the first half of the season, plus about 3 episodes more...then they rushed it because they knew it was finished. Didn't know Earl had been cancelled, haven't really watched it since before he went to prison, it got a bit formulaic for me...and I bought a 360 and stopped watching TV...

It was a double blow for me this year. Battlestar Galactica finished (made it to the final'e without being axed) and Terminator: Sarah Connor chronicles was axed (or so the rumours go).

I am currently watching Knight Rider to fill the void though it's just a bit of mindless fun...nothing really engaging...nice looking girlies though

Does anybody remember Odyssey 5, or the latest Flash Gordon. I quite enjoyed those

actually the major problem is innovation.

US TV studios don't like it. its not bankable and does not turn a continuous profit. highly repetitive shows are easier to make and easier for audiences to swallow.

many, many TV shows are pitched as 3 season, forming an over all story arch, and studios don't much like that (some times only as a single season). they'd rather have something run in a serial fashion. sadly, serials are difficult to conceive and even harder to write. they lend themselves only to a few genres (comedy and drama). it means that studios will make as many different series as they can manage.

some will be too innovative and simply won't take (like my personal favourite, Pushing Daises) and some will be bent into a shape more suited to the studios desires (like the epic blunder that was the middle few series of Lost). but there will be many that make it so far and then fail.

until the studios take a different approach to making TV it will continue that way.

T:SCC was good in the first season but the second season was boring as hell.

it's a shame firefly got cancelled, i really enjoyed it. luckily serenity closed it up nicely with the option of resurrecting the franchise in the future

The Unit. Now That was a show and a fucking half. Ran for 4 seasons, much more to offer, but unfortunately, it's finished. I nearly cried when I heard that.

I want to see the robot go back to starring in Firefly. But alas, it will never happen.
