Default WOTR vs LOTR BSG

I am thinking of starting one of the two. However since the models are the same i wanna know which on has the better rules? I do prefere skirmish based combat if that matters.
So which one do you people think is the best?

LotR=cheaper, better rules, quicker, smaller, very strategic if you choose to play that way

WotR=expensive, crazy OTT magic, 3 mumakils in 1000pts, good rules but ruined by stupid combos, spells and pts values

Cross out Good rules for WotR, and you're set.

SBG is definitely the better game overall, and like Stella mentioned, it's a lot cheaper as well. And seeing as you said you prefer skirmish based combat in your original post, all the more reason to choose it over WotR.

As for whether or not you should get the Mines of Moria starter set, I personally would recommend it to anyone just starting out in the SBG. It gives you 2 small forces, terrain, rules etc. Plus having the Fellowship of the Ring is helpful in most cases for any player that wishes to have a Good Force.

yep it has pretty much every character you'll need unless you get some of the special ones in certain supplements like the necromancer or shades or gulavhar. it does have all the standard gondor, rohan, elves, dwarves, goblins, orcs, uruks, and even the big elephants. Has atleast like 200 units. Definately enough for a new player. lol bytheway have fun with Gondor, I myself have 1800 points of their awesomeness.

Oh and yeah SBG for the win. It's way better than the new stuff. lot's of action and glorious battle.
