Hi fellow Heretics,
I thought id share a tutorial on how to make power cables of any width or size you might require.

Materials & Tools:

Fingers( yours preferably!)
Wire cutters
paperclip
florists wire(I used 24 guage wire in this tutorial)
a cylinder or round tube(pencil or pen will do)

Tutorial:
Firstly after clearing a suitable space and gathering your tools and materials you should have this:

Model is for scale purposes.

Then I start by winding 5 or so coils of the florist wire onto the paperclip like so:

Then I wind the small end of the wire tight, you may have to push the coils together from time to time so they are nice and tight.
Eventually you should have some thing like this:

Then bend it carefully round the pen or round object(my craft knife handle in this case):

And Voila a power cable, any size cable can be made with various sized wire in the middle and the coils can be made thicker with larger guage wire too!
All you have to do is clip the paperclip leaving a millimeter or two at each end, and drill 2 holes in the mini and glue it in.

I hope you like it.

being in the US, i have no idea what a quid, but trying going to a music repair shop. invariably they have at least one guitar that they're having to restring for one reason or another.

ask them how much they would sell you the old guitar string or even if they'll give it to your for free.

great tutorial though. as an aside, if you use this idea with two equal length pieces of brass rod you can give a SM/CSM bike a 'Chopper' look by gluing the brass rod to the wheel.

in other words, combine Munky's idea with Eisenhorn's idea:

hope you guys get what i'm talking about...

Eh, my sister and dad both play guitar on a very regular basis; I've already got more guitar string than I'm ever likely to use.

If you can find a friend who plays guitar fairly often, they tend to go through strings at a decent pace. Just ask for used or broken strings. Unless your guitar-playing friend is also into the hobby, it's not likely they'll be using the castoffs for anything :)
