Default Teleport Beacon

Do you have to tell your opponent where your beacons are? I know alot of the time its meant to be very open and wysiwyg but if my scout bikers or a droppod has one id hate to say as soon as it dropped in, o btw it has a teleport beacon on it, shoot it as much as you can o_o

Yes, it is a requirement of fielding an option that your opponent be made aware of it.
If it's not shown on the model, then they can ask.

If you look at each other's lists, it becomes their responsibility to ask what has what, if not, you have to specify.

I would never volunteer such info, but tell them if asked. In an open list tourney setting they should know that it has the beacon anyway. If you had two Pods, one with and one without, I would explain which one the Pod was when deploying it.

I mean if you aren't allowed to look at your enemy's list, and the beacon isn't modeled on, then you HAVE to let them know, or you have an unfair advantage.
In open list, it's up to them to nut it out and inquire though.

It's a bit ambiguous what that is, but they'd probably ask what it is.
That's a good way to represent it, and if any serious player didn't know what it was, they'd ask.
But in friendly games, you really should be making everything clear.

Do any other sets come with a teleport beacon? What does it look like?

I always field both my pods with loactor beacons, they are just too handy not to have (especially if you have a lot of teleporting/DS uints)

a beacon looks like anything.
a vehicle searchlight pointing up
teleport homer from the terminator box
a tau bit
vibrant painted nodes
a venerable DCCW giving the finger

there's no actual model so you can do whatever ya want.

im guessing you might want to see the look on a friend's face when you DS troops in after announcing that the unit sitting next to the OBJ has a beacon- i just give them my list and if they dont ask questions then they dont get answers- the details are in their hand, you've given the info,

i hate the whole swapping army lists thing. like in reality a general would be able to tell what troops are in a transport without actually seeing them embark. last time i checked WH40k doesn't have x-ray goggles in it. so what if that land raider just popped out a squad of really deadly terminators? you should have been able to tell from the scarcity of other units. isn't that part of the challenge, not knowing what you're opponent is going to do?
