Default Defensive grenades?

For anyone who's read the new 40k Chaos Daemons codex, there's reference to assault and defensive grenades...anyone have a clue? I'm thinking this is something that will be explained in the new 5ed Rule book...but still, have I overlooked it somewhere? I'm shocked (well not really, it is GW afterall :fuck that the rules aren't referenced or explained in a more obvious place.

I believed they generalized thet grenades in 5th Ed, the defensive grenades would be equivelant to the Tau/Plague Marine grenades that take attacks away from charging models. While assault grenades such as Frag Grenades allow you to assault into cover at normal intiative as opposed to becoming INT 10 and attacking simultaniously.

I was thinking the same thing, I was just wondering if it was buried in the codex as I haven't read it from front to back yet...

The new codices are written with 5th ed in mind. BL has it right. In 5th they simplify grenades, breaking them down into different cterogies rather than different stats for each type.

Assault grenades negate the benefits of cover when charging into assault, making everyone fight on their own initiative score.

Defense grenades negate the bonus attack for models charging into the unit armed with the assault grenades (but they still get all other bonuses they may have, including 2 ccws or furious charge, etc)
