Vehicle/Monster - Any vehicle or monster from any company. Any miniatures on 40mm+ bases not classed as monsters are included in this category.
Only models that are painted wholly within the month are eligible to enter (i.e. unpainted or only primed at the start of the month). Entrants are not required to post a photograph of the model before painting. If you have a question as to whether or not your model qualifies, please feel free to post in this thread.
You may join the painting deathmatch in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT, 31 March 2015. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged.
Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the deathmatch. The deathmatch winner will be decided in a separate voting thread by the Heresy Online community. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, individual artist improvement, etc. The winner of the deathmatch will be awarded with the Mark of Slaanesh award.
Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting deathmatch, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.
This is not the year long Army Painting Challenge, but a separate Monthly event. Though entries in one can also be entered into the other (assuming it fits into the category chosen for this deathmatch).
I will see if I can get this 'Lokomotive' shell painted by the end of the month. I will have to paint while constructing but here goes. Priming and undercoat done today.
To the Warp with it. Enough talking about "for how often I use him in game, I should really paint the fellow..."
Time to Be' some Lakor.
Realizing I don't have a "before" picture, and he's already far enough along with the progress I've made today that I'm hesitant to do post before done...
I can't win in this, having won in last months competition with my Painboy, but for fun I will enter my Battlewagon.
I was very pleased with how the rust effects turned out, especially as it was the first time I tried doing them.
I also left it completely modular, so that I can WYSIWYG if needed.
So, amongst the chaos of moving and helping the in-laws remodel the kitchen and living room, I was able to finish this Christmas ornament, I mean, Drop Pod
Haha, thanks guys. I didn't choose the scheme, it's for my little brother's Salamanders army and he said he wanted red and green, so there you go I've still a bunch of his at to paint, so you should see a rather jolly lot marching through these comps
It's always interesting seeing red/green color schemes, since I can't help but wonder how often their painter is color-blind in that area--I mean, that's 6% of the male population, apparently. I recall Boc, a mod from a while back, had his red-green Khornate warband for that reason a while ago.
I mean, I dunno where you sit on that particular genetic fence, Hellathos, but you are acknowledging it's Christmas ornament colors, which implies some degree of disambiguation? barring learned "red/green" comparisons, heh. Edit: ah, little brother's color scheme, gotcha.
Anyways, interesting topic, underlining the inherent subjectivity of perception. And the dress is g-
Wow, things happen quickly when you hire professionals, haha.
I would have thrown some solid earthy colors in, but by the time the red and weathering was laid down, it was inevitably fated to its cheery aesthetic. On other units for the army I'll be adding cream, Browns, and I hope to try out a reptile scale pattern technique I found a tutorial online for, hopefully it will give them some more depth and steer them clear of being mistaken for Santa's missing jewels.
