This one has been brewing for a while. Ever since I first saw the re-make of "Death Race". I did a couple of Ork car conversions inspired by the film a while back (see this gallery), but this just had to be done .......!

Basic kit is a Trumpeter 1/35 scale Chinese missile launcher. You can pick these up for £30-35. Most suitable start point I could find.

Missile silo is shortened by about 120mm. Idea was to make the trailer look like some kind of industrial apparatus mounted on wheels. Wheels are from Trukks and Battlewagons (yes, that's why BitzBox and Kits & Bits never have any stock - I have them all!).

Loads of plastic card and assorted Plastruct sections as you can see. I can recommend Midland-Model-Centre on eBay for plastic card. Good quality and price - and full-size A4 sheets too. I haven't done all the Rivittz yet - need to work up to that - but all the holes are drilled, as you can also see. There are literally hundreds!

Front ram is entirely from plastic card, with rollers underneath from Chimera wheels. It is detachable for storage and game play without (and to make the model more manageable on the gaming table!).

Most of the rest of the GW and FW-sourced additions are self-evident. Shootaz, flamerz, rokkits, stikk bomm chukkas, vizion slitz and so on, plus a couple of Stompa turrets at the rear.

Front turret started out as a model railway fuel tank, an N gauge Knightwing product if I recall, with guns looted from a Defiler. Big hatch on the front is resin from Mac's Mouldings (find his shop on eBay - does some useful stuff).

Chain is mostly from my bits box, but I did have to buy some more. I can recommend Miskin Models shop on eBay (model boat anchor chain!). I also made a real find in the jewellery section. 3 x 17" lengths of gunmetal-coloured chain for 99p + P&P. I bought 5 packs ...... You get a useful-looking clasp/hook with each one too. Bargain! The seller is "Maxi2512".

Crew are still loose at the moment for painting.

Nuff said, I think .....

That's brilliant! Really nice creation, well deserving of the title 'Ork'.

Actually there aren't any rivvittz in these pics - just the holes drilled ready. I have 3 main ways of making rivvittz (but still haven't got round to doing any of them on this beast yet).

1. Buy Grandt Line plastic mouldings from SB Models (www.sbmodels.net). There are several sizes and 2 shapes, 100 larger size or 300 smaller size in a pack for £2.75. Can work out expensive, but are brilliantly simple to use. Each has a "tail". Drill hole, snip rivet off sprue, pop rivet in hole with tweezers, drop of liquid poly, job done.

2. Buy Peco SL14 model railway track pins from a model railway shop. These are about £1.50 a pack: never counted how many, but guess 200. Use in same way as above, but needs Super Glue in the hole first. You may need to clip them short with cutters. If it's a hollow structure and you can't see in, I don't bother.

3. Make your own from plastic rod. Cheapest option, but mind-bendingly tedious. You'll need a lit candle as well as plastic rod (Slaters, Plastruct, etc): 0.75mm/40 thou diameter is good. Sprue is far too thick. If you hold the end of the rod close to the flame it will roll back to form a mushroom head. Allow to cool, snip off and use as above. Then keep on doing it over and over and over and over and over (see the drawback?)!
