Would you guys get this for PC or PS3 if you had the choice?

I have both and am not sure which to Skyrim for, for Christmas.

I'm leaning towards PC as patches are quicker in coming, their are community mods available for free and their are Memory bug issues on PS3 that still aren't totally fixed.

My onmly reservation is i've never really played many PC games that aren't point and click RTS.

What do you guys think?

PS3 is suffering crippling problems due to the low RAM of the system not being able to handle many data changes (it will lag when your save game reaches the 12MB mark) so unless you want to play super carefully (not touching any in-game physics objects) not being able to play an archer (leaving arrows in the world) not being able to be a thief (stealing shit ramps up your save file sooo much - definitely get the PC version.

Xbox 360 doesn't suffer from those problems. It might not be all PS3's that suffer from that either. I was at my friends house watching his brother play skyrim. From what I noticed, he didn't seem to be suffering from any lag at all.

My youtube channel. Feel free to stop by and have a look if you're interested. I do Airsoft, some warhammer related videos, and gaming videos.

360 does suffer from ram issues sometimes, just obviously not as strong and frequent as ps3 users.

it has been reported for pc players as well fyi... just not as significant

Thanks for the info, I had a really bad session the other night when it was stuttering every second step I took this may be why. I found a hard restart solved it though.

If this is a known issue hope they sort it! As I will be replaying this game at least several times

the issue with the PC is that the program for some reason caps itself at 2gb of ram, this is easily fixed though and once done, it no longer has any issues.

PC all day, every day. No way you want to miss out on the Mod Content out there... and this is even before the tools are released.

Been playing it with a PS3 controller on the PC. Brilliant Fun IMHO.

IMHO - you SHOULD just get these mods if you're on PC.

To enable full ram, just use this - http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013
Borderless Window - http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4

Improved Map - http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=272 - you can actually now zoom in, rather than simply descend to low orbit.
Performance Patch (no actual plugins/game modification - http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=91

http://www.computerandvideogames.com...im-lag-claims/

Apparently. On my cousins save on PS3 it started lagging about 8K, but is now getting nearly insufferable for him - a bit disappointing as he's a) a bit of a trophy whore and is proceeding to smash through initially to get Platinum, and b) I didn't spend 42 to get him a game that runs worse that it would do on his laptop.

I'm surprised that this bug was not tested that thoroughly before though. Surely ~20 hours of gameplay is not hard to achieve. Yes, he's been a scrub and bucked off school to play it, but for someone who's "testing" it, 20 hours on a game like skyrim should be considered minimum.

But yes - PC - the lag issues won't be as prevalent even after the hopefully eventual patch for consoles. Maybe you don't get trophies/achievements - but from what I've seen, once you've mastered the powerlevelling tricks on the PC (Iron Sword technique).

Anyone used the Oghma Infinium bug?

Once you have obtained the Oghma Infinium and have not already used it to gain knowledge (because it normally disappears when you do so), follow these steps to easily gain levels in the 18 Skills:
Activate an empty book shelf to access the book shelf menu.
Find the Oghma Infinium in your inventory, and open it.
Choose any path (The Path of Might to level Combat skills, The Path of Shadow to level Stealth skills, or The Path of Magic to level Magic skills).
Store the Oghma Infinium on the bookshelf.
Leave the book shelf menu.
Activate the Oghma Infinium on the book shelf.
Select (Do Not Read).
Take the book off the shelf.

Yes, it's cheating, but for second run throughs with "uber" characters on platforms (as PC's can just console) - because lets face it, who doesn't want a character with 100 everything?

Any other levelling tips?

Sneak and Archery
- Aura Whisper + Bow + Sneak - use Aura Whisper to detect enemies, and Sneak to sneak, then hopefully kill enemies, levelling up Sneak and Archery.

Magic
Quasi-cheating, but the well known enhance to 0% mana cost and then tape down button to get maxed magic. Alteration and Restoration are the easiest - use Equilibrium and Heal continuously.

Speechcraft
Talk to the guy in Black Briar Meadery in Riften, and keep persuading him.

And lastly, any mods you are looking forward to?

I'm waiting until January before I start looking at getting many major mods in, but there's a few beauty mods I've had my eye on. Many of these will have conflicts - so before you delve in and import all of them, have a look at any mod folders in themselves.

4K Rock and Mountains http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=849

And Most likely something involving all of these - http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11 - the STEP, or Total Enhancement Project. Yes I realise I've just probably listed the top 100 best beauty mods, but hell, it looks quality.

Levelling quickly?

Smithing- Create Iron Daggers, only requires 1 Iron Ingot & 1 Leather Strip- I had my smithing at 100 before i was even Lvl15.

I dont even know how you could do this game in 20hrs, I've spent well over 140hrs split between 2 characters and I've still barely started the main story line.

anyone doing bows and arrows legit take this to heart:

play dodge arrow with one archer enemy after shooting him with the arrow you want to dupe, after hitting him with said arrow once, he will shoot that arrow instead of his shitty ones. and you can effectively get an infinate amount of whatever arrow you want this way.
