Default Dark Souls; Awesomely difficult.

So how are you all finding this game?

I, personally, am loving it. Even though sections have been so hard I have been left wanting to eat my own foot rather than attempt that giant fucking boss again. I even died during the "tutorial" and that has never happened to me in a game before...

Now up to the bit with the massive knight with big arse shield, and the sorcerer above him, killed them both on 2nd attempt. Currently soul level 19.

I'm not even sure what I am meant to be doing, which I actually think is a positive thing strangely enough. Other games spoon-feed you what you have to do, I've found this game pretty much forces you to figure out and do everything yourself. All I know is I am looking for 2 bells or something along those lines lol.

This series has been one of the best in this generation period. I love bashing my head in on this game and Demon's Souls lol

Daemon's souls was definitely easier than this, wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be the hardest game on xbox. It seems that a lot of the time you actually have to think about how you fight even the lowliest of enemies; you can't just storm in head first against a group of them and expect to come out with everything in tact...

What weapons are you rolling with? I'm a warrior class, at the moment with a knights shield and spear +1. Got my starting armour still, except I upgraded my torso armour to +1. I have enough strength (24) to wield the special sword that the skeletons are hiding (I just ran through all the skeletons when I had little souls, picked up the sword and then got absolutely bent over...). Don't really like it though, it's too slow for my liking :/

I tried it but after dying multiple times, over and over and over, on the first skeletons in game, and losing my souls and humanity, I decided that its just too damn hard for me. If I couldn't kill them then there's no way i'd be able to do the later game. Took me an half an hour to kill two skeletons and then I died on the next ones and had to rest at the bonfire, which brought the first two back.

Just too hard. Graphically its practically fine art, but gameplay is just too much for me.

I don't think you are actually meant to be able to kill the skeletons at the start of the game, in a review I read it said about if you didnt wanna wait till you a stronger, just run through the skeletons; this pretty much says you wont survive till later.

Have you tried going the opposite way though? It is so much easier that way; a lot easier enemies. Honestly, I wouldn't give up on it because you couldn't kill the skeletons, I had exactly the same problem.

Love the game just have to push myself to put other things down and finish it and yeah it is harder than Demon's Souls because there is just more to take into account on this one.

Also do you mean the skeletons that are in the graveyard or something? Yeah you have to wait a bit later I do believe I didn't find that place till I was level 15 or so and even then it was a bit difficult. Yet I was still able to kill them because I spent the time to upgrade my scimitar. I have the uchigatana now so it could be easier.

im rolling the warrior class, going in to be a tank.

it utterly different to what i normaly do, which is the theif/assassin type build.

at the moment im switching between the halberd and battleaxe.

playing whack-a-mob is delightful fun whild 2 handing the battleaxe XD

I got the drake sword. You should use it. DO you know how to get it or should I tell you? Also rolling with a shield that regenerates stamina at an awesome rate.

EDIT: it has 200 damage. And it has a relatively quick attack speed. Think you need 16 ST to wield it.

Yeah turns out i'm a freaking idiot. I was going the wrong way and trying to fight enemies waaay beyond my level capacity. My brother showed me the right way and i'm doing much better now.

My brother has been playing the game and beat Ornstein and Smough last night, and is around level 90+ with Havel's Armour, Shield and the Dragon King's Great Axe.

Basically he looks like that except for the Dragon Tooth, he just has a massive axe made from a Dragon's tail bone instead.

I on the other hand am far behind him, but i'm on my way up. Going to fight the Belfry Gargoyles tonight, and my later goals are to get Quelaag's Fury Sword and Ornstein's Armour, then the Dragon Slayer Lance.

So i'll look like the golden armoured boss in that trailer.

My praise for Dark Souls is very high, this is definitely a Game of the Year contender and its definitely better then what i've seen for Skyrim. Truthfully Dark Souls isn't as hard as many things make it out to be, it just requires you to actually think about how to fight enemies and it punishes stupidity without any mercy. But once you get going and really understand what your doing, and get some badass gear to boot, you'll do just fine ingame.
