Smacktalk is a vital part of gaming, on or offline. I assure you that the language and style of phrase used during Quake 2 LANs was never any less extreme. Just remember that it's all in good fun. Usually.
In fact, I'd say that that kind of thing is an important part of the metagame. If a person's raging because you're mocking them, the majority of the time, people will either actively avoid you, or charge in headlong trying to prove a point. In either case, they're not playing the game the way they'd like, making them a much preferable target to someone who has map control and pickup timings down right. (Again, Quake is what I know best, so it's what I reference)
Of course, some people do tend to take it a bit far, but it's only a game, and beating them in this case is hilarious.
