You seem to be getting a little over zealous and putting words in my mouth. May be the source of your misunderstanding me.

The story, when it was first released, was good, but it is old now, it is predictable and leaves little that makes a player continue on in game. A game should always be played twice: First for the story, Second for the challenge. Once a game gets old it becomes predictable and the story shallow and boring because the ideas are outdated and have 'been done before' puts me in mind of all these vampire films spawning all over nowadays. Once its done, it ceases to be new. In its time it was good, now it is bland and predictable.

I did not mention anything about gameplay itself.

Over zealous? I wasn't the one who told you to die in a fire.

I would disagree with this notion, a game like Deus Ex is essentially a 20 hour long movie. A classic movie remains classic, it's what follows it which is dull and predictable as a result. You don't watch The Godfather ,then dismiss it as dull and predictable.

I have never been one to watch a film more than once. We are going to disagree on much in this so lets just leave it there.
I did not say the game was bad in the first place so all of this is unnecessary.

I don't understand what you're saying Alice.

Ok, I understand what you're saying, but don't understand why you are saying it.

Deus Ex has some of the best "Fluff" (In-game books, Emails, Newspapers, Datacubes) I have seen in any RPG ever. Quotes from Jacobs Shadow and references to GK Chesterton made me go to my local library and get them out just to find out what they were about. No other game has ever come close to making me do something similar. So points for intellectual stimulation - and that doesn't get old.

Plotwise, it's an edited highlight of every conspiracy theory ever made - it's got Area 51, the Illuminati, MiBs, FEMA, Rockefellers/Rosthchilds, Templars, Trilateral Comission etc etc etc. If you like that sort of stuff you'll love this game. If you like that sort of stuff, you generally like everything based on it, so it won't get old regardless of if you're playing it the first or fiftieth time.

It poses philosophical questions that have been asked since the dawn of time and with the advent of technology - what does it mean to be human? Where is the line between man and machine drawn? Is there such a thing as a benevolent dictatorship? Does greater technology/centralisation lead to an improvement in quality of life, or do the rich get richer and the poor get poorer? Unless you want to call Plato, Aristotle and the rest of the Classical thinkers "Old, dated and boring" then you can't really call the ideas in DX1 that either.

So tell me, because I asked in a civil manner, why you think DX1 is "Old/Done Before/Shallow/Bland".

90% of people think they are above average.

Statistically Improbable. Psychologically Inevitable.
