Default Thinking of purchasing a PS3

After the latest E3 I'm thinking of taking the plunge and purchasing a PS3. I mainly want to give Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank a try and I don't care for any XBOX exclusives. I'm also interested in the PS3 because of the free online service and the built in blue ray player. The other little thing is a game called Kingdom Hearts, and if they ever release a third one I want to be ready to play it.

Just curious what everyone's opinion is of the PS3 and if now is a good time to purchase one. The console won't be getting an update for a number of years right?

Although, I do have a very powerful PC and on the other hand I can wait for the next new hardware piece to come out as I've heard the WiiU is more powerful than the 360 or PS3. So perhaps I should wait?

I say go for it, I love my PS3 and the games that are on it. The free online gaming is a great plus. They shouldn't have a new PS for at least a few more years and they are getting into stride with the development of games. Also the PS3 has much better graphics than a 360, if that matters to you.

I haven't heard much about the new Nintendo system but if it is more powerful than the PS3 it is going to be ungodly expensive. The PS3 was in development for a long time trying to make sure it wouldn't need replaceing within the 2-3 years that seemed to be the norm for the console wars.

Before anyone touts the hacking of the PS3 and all that down time let's not go into slinging mud into this. Yes it was hacked but it was hacked as a response to Sony being really tough on anyone found to be modding the PS3.

Can re-roll re-rolls

I love my PS3. Their exclusives, mainly Uncharted and Infamous, are amazing games. Add in God of War and Ratchet and Clank and you've got a great collection of first party games.

As to the issue of purchasing a WiiU, I never buy a system at launch. They're expensive, lack a decent amount of games, and the games they do have are initally poor compared to the systems currently out there.

I got my Ps3 the day it came out in sweden (woughly), and have loved it since.

True i rarely play it, but that's because i've been real poor and not afforded any games and grown awfully lazy.

Anyway, back on topic.
The ps3's only issue i think is that the games on it often seem to have strange shadows. Perhaps it's just me noticing it, like it's made up from squares.

But the main selling point is free online service.
Get a xbox 360 AND pay a monthly subscription? No thanks, espescially with the nice little red lights of death it had going a while.

It's a cool machine, can exchange your dvd and be hooked up to the comp to play files from it on the tv.
Very nice when having friends over for a movie night.

All in all. Bit pricey, but good, so if you can afford one (and don't fear sony's incompetence at safety) i'd say buy one.

Although don't buy things online, as mentioned their security is utter abhorrance.

and yet, its still a much bigger piece of shit then the PS3.

the ps3 is still decent, graphically speaking.

the PS3 Exclusives, (god of war series, Uncharted Series, Infamous Series) all are amazing works, in my opinion, much better then the 360 exclusives which are all clones of eachother.

and Drannith, you are very mistaken, it will be more expensive then the current units, but, they can put a Raedon HD 5XXX series in for around 100 retail, so in bulk it would easily be 50-80 dollars, that would not push the price of the unit up massively for extended play either.

The Xbox is running on 2 Sapphire x1600's which are Ancient!
the PS3 is running on, I believe it was 8800's which were the top of the line card at the time, and with multiple cards in, can run true HD.

I think the Wiiu NEEDs to massively out preform both systems or it will still not have many people getting it.

But back OT: get the PS3, the exclusives are worth it, unlike the 360 ones. And wait to see the pricing of the WiiU, as it may suprise people despite being superior to the PS3 in every way (which is superior to the 360 in every way)

I was more refering the "360 exclusives" from third parties that are clones of Halo or Gears. but its still a fact that, despite them being different, they are both Shooters, and fairly generic now, halo being in its... 5th shooter game, Gears being on its third, ontop of all the clones.
