So my friend got into the Beta and I spent some time playing on his computer. Just a couple of hours, but the game is pretty damn good. I imagine seeing myself playing through a bunch for the story, but unfortunately its not any different than WoW as far as gameplay goes. It was certainly crisp and played well, but it feels almost the exact same as any other hotkey mmo. I already preordered very early to ensure a copy so I'm definitely going to play through a lot, but depending on how Guild Wars 2 is when it comes out, I may end up dropping the game.

So any questions about the beta you all have? I can relay my own experience and ask my friend otherwise if you have any inquiries. I believe he solely has played Sith up to this point.

well you said that it plays exactly like WoW, but everything ive heard from others says your wrong. Yes it is a Trinity MMO, I think we all expect that. but the lack of auto attack, and the full VO will greatly change the game.

From what Ive heard, and i just want confirmation from more people on this, the quests are all more important then just "kill x of y mob" or "pick up x of y item", and those are attached as bonuses to the quests instead?

To each his own. My experience is that it plays fairly similar to WoW, but that's not the reason I will be playing it. I'm playing because it's Star Wars and Bioware makes fantastic storylines. Put the two together and BAM, instant hit.

To clarify, the lack of an auto-attack was not that great of a change for me. It was still just spamming hotkeys until something dies in PVE. The quests were all pretty good. If you boil it down to the essentials, yes you are being sent to kill x minions, pick up y items, visit z npc to do or get something else. BUT, it's all progressing the storyline and you feel much more involved than any previous MMO that I have played. So yes, there were elements of traditional quests here, but it's all sort of woven in or veiled by the awesome characters and neat story. It didn't feel like as much of a grind as other games are.

well as I said, its a given that its going to play similar to a Trinity MMO, so WoW, EQ, etc. all play similarly, and theres no really denying that. and alot of people looking at it from a third party view seem to think its "wow in space" but the question comes down to, is it truly WoW in space thanks to the story element, and lack of auto attack, which both can make a huge difference in a game like this.

Europe is getting completely passed over for beta, we don't even have a chance of getting in. If anyone gets a spare key and wants to make this Brit cry tears of joy I am not too proud to beg for hand outs.

the problem with the keys being handed out, outside of the US / Canada is that its next to impossible to uphold people to the NDA.
