I was, until they said not even sniper rifles would one shot kill to the head. That's absurd and a huge game breaker to me. Bullet damage is the one thing that needs to be close to realism in a shooter.

Shame, this game had me excited for a very long time and Splash Damage are one of my favorite devs.

But I'm not going to play "Human Tank: The Game"

Strange. There was me thinking all this time it was entertainment value that was the important thing in a game.
If I wanted realism I'd go and join the army.

You can only remove so much realism until it becomes completely abstract and detached from suspension of disbelief. This is one of those cases.

Regardless, it's not "fun" playing a game where you need 7 bullets to stop someone... I find it hard to believe you do either, you just argue for the kicks.

Nope. I play Quake. I have no need for realism. In fact, unless I can rocket jump, fly or somehow otherwise tell gravity to sit and spin, I'm probably not thinking too much of a multiplayer game. Realism is really the least important thing to me in a game.

Clearly you haven't played many fps' before the COD series.

Operation Flashpoint <- Several years
Red Faction <- a year
CS 1.6 <- two years ish

And tried most the other crap all teenagers go through before they grow up, like Hexen, Duke, Quake, Blood and Doom. (Today's equivalents being Halo, Uncharted, BioShock, TimeSHIT and Daft Space) Interesting to note that of the three games on top, all had single shot kill weapons.

Haters aside I'm definitely getting this. I'm getting sick of shooters like Cod. (this was my thought before i read this thread) but seriously mate, games are for fun. I'd rather 'human tank' over call of generic war simulator any day.

I am the devourer of worlds and the plunderer of planets. I am the bane of races, the destroyer of intelligence. I am the omnipotent and you will all bow before me.

Because as we all know, these games were just a passing phase and didn't have any effect or influence on EVERY SINGLE FUCKING SHOOTER SINCE.

Also, the fact that those games are all still better than approximately 97% of what gets squatted out these days really suggests that they were doing something right.

Everybody calm down. There is no need to post your opinions in enormous font and there is no right answer for realism vs entertainment. Can we please get this thread back on topic?

I was considering getting the game but recently I've just lost interest in first person shooters. I prefer real-time strategy games now-a-days but I might get Brink somewhere down the line if I can find it cheap.

Praise the sun!
