Default Best Game ever?

Okay, so my xbox crashed the other day and in need of fulfilling my games addiction, i booted up my good old n64. And as i popped in my goldeneye 007 cartridge i got to thinking "what is the best video game of all time?"

So, i decided id put it out to the public- What do YOU think is the best game ever? please note these games must be from before 2002, because all great games have to be able to stand the test of time, and also i dont want any halofanboys saying halo 3, so there ya go.

Anyway, my vote goes to 2 games - 1. Total Anihilation- this game was the RTS, with big ass mechs and flying, land and naval units and explosions galore! and no. 2. warcraft 3, simply because it is a solid RTS with a great campaign but more importantly the custom games and Battle Net, and that fantastic map editor.

So tell me everyone, what are your choices??

(PS. does anyone know where to find a copy of Total Anihilation?)

if you read the post grim you would note that he said the games must be from before 2002.

fallout and fallout2

there is no 'overkil'l, there is only 'open fire' and 'time to reload'
It's an age old dilemma. You want to set everything on fire, but you can't steal stuff while it's burning. Don't let your passions run away with you! Do things in the correct order! Pillage, THEN burn!

its all fun and games till someone loses an eye, then its fun and games without depth preception.

Microsoft - Silent Service.

Blasting fuckers in a submarine is so cool. I still play it.

Fallout 1 and 2 (I agree rending, fab games!)

Total Annihilation Kingdoms (fantasy version of total annihilation)

Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 (BG 2 may be post 2002, I don't recall)

Planescape torment (damn expensive these days)

Diablo II

Too many great titles to round it down!

tough question because it really depends on what type of games you like to play. Hence while i'm breaking mine up that way.

Action/Sim: X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter ( i serious played this game online from about 1999 to 2003)

RTS: Starcraft

FPS: Half-Life (i'm pretty sure that HL2 was in '03/'04)

RPG: Planscape Torment (it took the original BG to a whole new level)

Of all these XvT is still my favorite, but it takes a strong online community to support it which it no longer has.

For me its a three way tie between TA (expansions included), ocarina of time, and fallout 2.
