I liked it for most of the reasons you did, and I wasn't disappointed. They've managed to re-create all the things that the original did well, and fleshed it out into a decent length game. I was afraid that the testing mechanic might get a bit boring over a longer period, but the story is paced very nicely and doesn't get tedious at all.

The humour runs rampant throughout, but the game still manages to be creepy and frantic in the right places. The new physics 'toys' are really good too. The end song isn't quite 'still alive', but that is a lot to live up to.

My only negative points about it are the fact it's a little short, and a little bit easy. I think however, both of this issues might be variable dependant on how much you play portal. If you did the speed & step tests on the original and played through prelude, you probably won't find many tests here that take more than a few seconds to figure out.

I was also a bit sad that there aren't many sections that require sustainable momentum through multiple portals. Whilst it's annoying trying to get your bearings, it's also great fun.

Despite these little niggles it's well worth the price tag, the puzzles are great fun and the environment is easily as immersive as any of the half life games.

That's good to hear, now I just need to finish this damn essay so I can get to playing it.

Played through co-op last night, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of co-op content. Around 40-45 test spread over 5 levels, and there's quite a few moderately tricky ones too.

I was planning to wait for a mate to do the run through, but I couldn't wait and tried it with a randomly matched partner. Was a little worried it'd be hard to work together without mics and headsets, but it was really intuitive, and quite a good laugh not being in proper communication with your team mate.

I have neither found cake, or been offered the false premise of cake. There is a lot of awesome one-liners though

The cake is a lie.

(You know a game is awesome when it spawns a completely new expression.)
