I like the DoW squads and reinforcements, as mentioned above, but I also liked the close combat of Dawn of War too. Although with all the expansions, it gets a bit pricy and takes up a lot of space on the PC, imo.

SC is the original, and i love it!

Diablo and D2 bring back such fond memories...Sigh..

i would say SC as I was a fan of that well before i became a fan of DoW and 40k, I have noticed a crap load of similarities between SC and the 40k universe

SC has great cut scenes and was the first RTS to really have the game balance right for their campaign. I'll put it up there as the fore father to modern RTS.

However there have been vast improvements to the genre and technology in general in the last decade that make DoW a far superior game.

Let's see...I've just bought DOW and I'll get Soulstorm later next week. I like it so far.

i actually played starcraft for a short time and thought it was a great game but dawn of war just has so much stuff to offer like wargear and 9 different races. and even with those 9 races the game still feels balanced and i think it deserves a lot of credit for that.

Agreed. I'm eagerly anticipating SC2 and from the gameplay movies it looks like they have incorporated a number of new features. The biggest thing for me is minimizing the amount of time you have to spend managing your workers. That's what i love about Dawn of war, you spend more time fighting and less time mining.

i dislike DoW as I never was any good at it, it was a bit too frustrating at times, as the enemy would come and attack at the beginning with a large-ish force and take out half the guys you created.
