Shogun 2 Overview

http://uk.ign.com/videos/2011/01/26/...battle-trailer

Few videos on there you may have seen before. Looks quality, plus the artwork looks decent.

Not keen on the sound of "the streamlined campaign map though" - sounds like technical jargon for "we couldn't be arsed fixing the errors".

I can't wait to see some mods made for it - particularly ones which are total conversions - could be difficult with the battle map models though.

I was really excited for this, until I realised my laptop probably can't do it justice. I had to play on a really low setting on Empire and it sort of detracts from the fun but it was still fun.

And I for one enjoy DOW2 change and I suggest instead of reverting back to an old school RTS, they should either develop the new direction their taking or find another way to innovate .

be nice if my computer could even come close to being able to play this, but it can't, and I can't afford a new computer just for 1 game, shame really, love the empire series, its what proper RTS games should be, massive battles, not tiny poxy skirmishes.

now if only someone would get off there ass and give us homeworld 3

I love the total war series. I started with Medieval 2 and all the expansion packs then bought Rome and all its expansion packs aswell.

But I enjoy the small little skirmish games. They're something different from all the massive battles and resource management. A nice change of pace .

Back OT: So which clans would you guys take? I heard if you pre-order you get an awesome ninja clan .

Depends on the era - If it's middle age, or Imperial Japan. If it's the former, definately the Taira clan. I don't know if there's any list of factions as yet.

My friend is really hyped about this game so he told me some details.

The ninja clan you get isn't from pre-ordering but from a limited edition and they are called the Hattori clan. Then there are your obvious other clans like the Takedas and Uesugis. I don't have much detail on them but my friend seemed to really like the Masamune clan because they specialise with troops carrying Nodachis. I am guessing they are an anti cavalry Clan or something.

Just need them to fix the AI. Been playing Empire and Medieval 2 and even with the AI on the hardest setting they are still really dumb. Empire had some of the worst AI I had every seen and its a SP game surely you would make sure it had good AI.

I liked how the previews said they had added the Art of War to the AI to help it. Sounds great until you see that they had that feature on Shogun total war 1 and I cant say the AI was amazing in that although its been a long time.

Anyone played the demo yet ?

While I know the AI is heavily scripted in the Demo so cant get a full idea. The AI in the Castle siege was very disappointing. I captured the Castle with just my ninjas and some horsemen. I just climbed up the walls to the citadel, captured the gate and tower then the castle and won. The AI just walked backwards and forwards doing nothing. At the start of the battle their general just ran out of the castle and charged into my army and died within seconds.
I dont know why when you have a Single player game you dont spend time making the AI actually work.
