my problem isn't wanting to be other races/classes, my problem is only wanting to stick to 1 class and race.

when I first started Oblivion I started with a character with the intention of being a sneaky imperial assassin.
by the end of the game I'm wearing full ebony armour (minus helmet), wielding ebony greatswords and a sneak so low the enemy knows I'm there before I do (not that it matters when you can 1 hit everything except a unicorn)

2nd time round I wanna be an archer dark elf (close enough to human really).
right now I'm running around in full Kvatch armour hitting everything with a sword as hard as I can (this is similar to version 1, just lower levels)

Fallout 3 I wanted to be a sneaky sniper in light armour
by the end I was wearing full power armour with a plasma rifle headshotting everything within a 5 mile radius (so almost there, but no sniper rifle and no light armour)

the same goes for most games, I usually end up being a human female armed to the teeth with PMS, heavy armour and the baddest gun/sword that looks good available, although wanting to be sneaky.

Lol. The RPGS Helpline. Teenagers (and adults) could finally get the help they need.

Elves + woods just go together in my opinion. But in regards to class, everything always looks better when your not it!

I'm guessing you subscribe to the policy that; if I'm going to have to watch your ass run for hours it better be good looking - Hence human female lol.

At the moment I've started into Dragon Age Origins again, the furthest I've ever gotten is the first big battle were

I'm playing as a Noble Dwarf called Thorek, who specialises in using two axes and will eventually become a Berzerker / Templar.

But already I'm annoyed at the the character and want to play something different. For in all honest not apparent reason. Although as I said, being a Dwarf and wanting to 'ahem' Morrigan is a little creepy.

But the main problem I'm having with the game is that you will eventually meet characters who do the same thing as you:

Allistar - Sword and Shield Human
Morrigan - Offensive Mage
Leliane - Thief / sneaky archer
etc etc

I think I might go back and play through my favourite opening and be a Dalish elf who hates humans, but who's heart and 'ahem' is warmed by Morrigan because she is an outsider living in the forests too.

Sigh.

I usually stick with 1 character after experimenting with different builds.

I normally get bored when there is no where left to explore.

I hate games that level up the monsters as you level up, its like being stuck on a treadmill and going nowhere.

You also meet more characters.

Archery is so shit that you want to make Leliana a Stealthed Melee Backstabber with an Axe and Dagger (once she gets Cunning = Strength ability), no point in focusing in archery at all. There's a bug which stops Ranged benefitting from flanking, backstabbing and dexterity bonus.

Alistair is an awesome Tank. Up his Strength to wear some of the better armours, then just keep upping his constitution and give him your best armours.

Morrigan is a good offensve range mage, but I wouldn't consider giving her Arcane Mage. Plus, 2 Healers, or even 3 (Yourself as a Spirit Healer, Wynne and Morrigan as the others).

You can also get Sten as a 2Handed Combat Hero, and Oghren much later on. Wynne you can get in the Circle tower (as another Healer Mage),Zevran is an Elven Melee Assassin, which is decent, but by the time you get him, Leliana should be a decent enough one, and after you get your Specialization, go for Assassin (Bard provides useful Aura's which affect the whole team).

The Golem is fairly amazing (from the DLC), the Dog can be quite useful as well. I think I might have forgotten a couple but anyway, there you go. Every aspect is covered somewhat.

Thanks for the spoilers ... jackass.

Nah, I'm joking, but you've just hit on the problem I have.

Everything is already taken.

Sword, Shield, Heavy Armour - Allister
Morrigan - Offensive Magic
Sten - Two Handed.

Although the one thing you havn't mentioned is a Dwarf character.

Are there any?

Because if not I might stick with this one.

My theme is a Two Handed Warrior, plenty of Heavy Awesome Armour, put packing two axes, then get Berserk and Templar.

So he is a bit of a nutcase who hates magic.

Despite Morrigans teasing I might RP hating her and instead focus on one of the other characters.

But I might restart anyway and be a commoner rather than Noble.

What do you, and others think?

Hints and ideas would be VERY helpful.

Oghren is a Dwarf Warrior but he uses 2-handed weapons rather than dual wielding.

Personally I never really used Sten or Oghren that much, I prefered Alistair to complement my own Sword & Shield style...we killed a Dragon (I was absurdly pleased about that because it took a lot of attempts).

You can actually max out your levels on the first quest Duncan gives you- he asks you to get 3 vials of Darkspawn Blood and some Grey Warden Scrolls.
Get the blood and return to Duncan, talk to him but tell him (truthfully) you haven't got the Scrolls yet, as soon as you've finished the conversation you'll get the XP for getting the blood.
Then click on Duncan (yes, again) and talk to him and have the same conversation and you'll get the XP for bringing back the Blood again.

Rinse and repeat as much as you want- just be warned that Lvl 25 is the max so don't go to high if you want to train up as something else later in the game (I recommend just going up to Lvl 15)

nah I just dislike playing as your typical testosterone filled muscle bound male hero with the brain capacity of a fart.

that and since I always wanted a sneaky character (who never happened), a female in sneaky stealthy armour is allot better than some massive man and his giant groin.

When I play games like this I enjoy roleplaying and creating a back story for my character, beyond the confines of the in game story.

My question for you is ... what do you do when your female character is on her ... woman's time? Lol

That would be one heck of a roleplay scenario.

You would have to choose all the b*tchy type comments and go crazy in battle.

Or lay around with a water bottle complaining and demanding things from your companions.

Fun times I would imagine, fun times.

I get this problem when playing MMO's, generally after hours of grinding to get to a semi respectable level with half decent gear I decide I desperatley need to be a mage/ranger/melee -_-
On RPGs though I tend to be able to stay true to whatever I make at the begining, I think the trick is (well it helps me anyway lol) is to take in the overall story, not your own toon.

Though D-A-C as a bit of inspiration to keep on with at least one character in Oblivion, that really smug irritating elf in the Imperial dungeons, he one of your targets in the Dark Brotherhood xD

thats easy, you find a group of centaurs, and one hit them all to death one after another until your satisfied or your blade breaks and you punch them to death.
