Ask him about Pokemon and see if he thinks thats for children. If he says yes, tell him I'd like a word with him. It's probably one of the most complicated games when you start playing online.

As for compatiability, AFAIK, you can play Japanese Games (for example, Pokemon Black/White is Japanese only, it's untranslated), but there are guys in the US and UK who have it (and a dictionary) and are able to play reasonably well.

As an added note; I'd recommend Final Fantasy Tactics 2, Fire Emblem 2 and Disgaea.

Although to be honest, Disgaea is kind of a loop. There are monsters within items that you can kill to get their bonus and move to a different weapon, to make a weapon stronger. It levels up that item, and you do this to make really strong weapons. The kicker is, every time you go through it to kill the monster/level up, you get MORE items, which you then go through to get the upgrades, then kill the monster/level up and you get even more items etc. etc.

It's a game that will take a while to get burned out, but you eventually will be burned out lol So far it's fun though.

I have a GBA to play pokemon and zelda on, my wife has a gameboy colour for tetris.

I think these are the only 3 handheld games anyone of any age could ever need.

I recommend the Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, it's a pretty cool game.
