Default Dead Space 2: Demo

That's right. The much anticipated playable demo for Dead Space 2 has finally arrived, at least to the Xbox Marketplace. I highly advise anyone to check out perhaps the sequal to, arguably, the greatest sci-fi horror around.

Unfortunately, it's the same smidgeon of gameplay that was shown to the media some time ago, but it's still damned fun. The amount of detail is not any less awe-inspiring as well.

As far as combat goes, it's pretty much the same as before. The game hasn't changed that much on a mechanical standpoint, but the addition of more refined and interactive zero-gravity areas adds an awesome touch to the gameplay many have come to love. Although it's a little less of a horror game than before, and a bit more action oriented, it's still Dead Space. So do yourself a favor and download it when you get a chance.

Thanks for the heads-up! Downloading now...

From the looks of the demo I think that Dead Space 2 will be pretty good. The graphics looked great and the controls seemed to be refined. The movement of Issac didn't make me feel like an upside-down turtle like it did in the first game. I didn't really like the new zero-g movement but I'm sure I will get used to it.

The new zero-g movement is great, I think. Much more interactive than jumping from panel to panel like in the first one which lacked the suit thrusters. Based upon my satisfactory rating of the demo, I really hope the puzzles in the game are diverse and more challanging. I blew through the demo thing pretty quick.

Either way, Dead Space 2 is sure to be a great game barring any unforeseen episodes of bullshit. I'm not too fond of a lot of the background fluff that as been embelished upon after the first game, though I thought 'Downfall' was pretty cool for an animated video game movie. It's worth checking out if one hasn't already but I really can't say it's worth a buy unless you have the cash to spend or are a somewhat hardcore sci-fi/horror/Dead Space fan.

Whether or not there is to be a third installment is unknown to me, but I'm not too sure how long they can stretch this great game without breaking it. The gameplay and atmosphere is great, and I still play Dead Space every now/then, but there needs to be a proper dosage of plot to keep it running strong.

Downfall featured the voice of Bruce Boxleitner, and that makes it WELL worth money.

Haven't played DS2 demo yet, but have downloaded, just waiting until I get enough time to completely experience the visceral horror...in the dark! lol

The thing that I didn't like about the zero-g system is that it seemed kind of difficult to move, maybe it was just me. I agree with the need for a good plot to keep the game going. I got bored about midway through the first game and it seemed like I had to slog my way through the rest of the game. I read somewhere that OXM gave Dead Space 2 a 9.5 and they said that there is more horror and surprises in the game. Hopefully they are right but we will see when the game comes out.

I gotcha, DecayOfSouls. Z-g movement isn't the fastest or most precise way to get around, for sure. But I didn't mind it that much, personally.

Although the plot was minimal in DS1, I found more than enough enjoyment simply exploring the Ishimura. Still...backtracking to previously explored areas, despite significant changes and understood reasons for doing so, was tiresome.

I think they understood that this time around, but as others have said, we'll just have to wait and see.

I thought the demo was great, it was much more fluid and it seemed far easier to move and shoot. Plus the new zero-gravity and puzzles are very fun, look forward to fighting necromorphs while flying in zero-g.

As for the story I think that Dead Space 2 will improve on this since far much more is happening. Isaac's mental degeneration is accelerating, the government is out to kill him for some reason, and he must survive the sprawl and perhaps this time try to save some people.

Got today and enjoyed it. Seems like they fixed alot of the issues from the first game, though no hip fire is kind of hammpering...

"If there is any primarch who should have never been found, its Lorgar. Why? Two words. Hours Hersey"
"It was a 1......why was it a 1!"
Yes, I do play orks, yes, I do have quite a few boys on the table, and yes, it does take me a while to move them...got a problem with that...
