Default Your favourite Dawn of War game

Like the title says, what is YOUR favourite Dawn of War game? Mine is DoW: Dark Crusade, because it was my first experience with DoW, and I loved it. Now it's your turn!

Hard decision, my first DoW was the original, and I loved it! Brilliant story, and flawless gameplay!

Winter Assault was absolutely amazing, and it was a pain in the ass to just find the game! I think that I spent ca. 6 hours wandering around from shop to shop in the hope of finding it! And I did! Good memories come from hard work, lol!

Dark Crusade, amazing as all the others, and an interesting campaign! The new races were awesome, and it was fun to play with them!

I must say that I cant chose a favorite, for they are all absolutely amazing games, and none stands above the other... But if I really had to, I would chose Winter Assault just cause of the fact that I put a lot of time and effort trying to find it! I think I found my copy at the bottom of a box of... books? And it cost me only 5!

Dark Crusade was the best game (except v1.2 Necrons =O). Soulstorm would have been decent as a 5-10 Download for the new races, maps, units (but no flyers) and campaign. Along with the fact that there's no support for the modding of it relying on often buggy modified DC tools or tools which are no longer worked on by the community (thanks to the piss poor DoW2), it's a bit shit, if I'm honest.

DoW2, fuck me that would be better as a new game mode rather than a new game altogether, completely forgoing the RTS aspect of the game in favour of some quasi RPG mode which is extremely poor.

All I can say is that DoW3 better had just be DoW without the bugs, better graphics, and better modding capabilities.

Yeah, the original ones were the best, the new ones are bleh. Hardly even what DoW was about. I loved the original purely because it was all about building units and resource points etc. Now you can only get that in the Multiplayer/ Free play mode of DoW 2. DoW2 is more like an online shooting game then what the original was.

Default Hard Choice

I would have to say for story it would be the original.

but for multiplayer I would have to say Winter Assault, mainly because of all the fond memories though Dark Crusade gameplay wise was better.

I would go with the original. It was really good from both a gameplay perspective and story. The Winter Assault and Dark Crusade expansions were pretty neat too, although SoulStorm was a bit of a let down. Just didn't have the quality of the others. DOW2 and its expansions I dislike, just seem to much like shooters now. Hardly any RTS elements left in now.

Dark crusade. Soulstorm meant well but the fliers sucked harry scrotum.

Edit; Like Vaz said, hopefully DoW 3 kicks ass. Part 2 looked impressive but something was missing.

I support Exterminatus.
