Goldeneye does not stand up to the test of time.

Old games, I'm going to say prior 2000...

Fallout 1+2
Baldur's Gate Trilogy
Super Mario Kart/World/RPG
Killer Instinct

@kingofcheese, the other silent hill games aren't garbage; they're just different and more action-oriented (sort of). Fortunately, SH2 was the last SH game I played, so the others didn't seem so bad (aside from 4, take out the Ghosts and we'll talk).

If someone lacks intelligence, than he is not stupid, because one cannot be stupid without intelligence.

If someone reverts to having to complain about your grammar, then you already won.

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Starcraft from way back in the LAN days.

The first COD really got me into playing fps on line.

BF2 still the best fps IMO, can't beat a good old carrier rape in the J10 ;-)

And last but not least Comand & Conquer ;-) flame tanks ftw ;-)

But the point isn't "best new game" or "new games vs old games". It's "Best Old Game" and I don't think you can say "Goldeneye /end thread" because there are plenty of games that are better than it.

Shooters: The original Half Life, for example (and I'm surprised no-one mentioned it), Deus Ex, Dark Forces 2, Quake 2

Before that:

Point and clicks: Monkey 1 and 2 (everything after that failed), DotT, Discworld, Lost Secret of the Rainforest, Search for Cetus, Castle of Dr Brain (you can download those last 4 from abandonia.com - and I urge you to do so, they're still excellent).

RTS: AoE, WC2 (never was a C&C fan).

Sims: X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance

Even when it was released I was very "meh" about Goldeneye, it had interesting bits but was generally just a normal shooter.

90% of people think they are above average.

Statistically Improbable. Psychologically Inevitable.
