forget vista, its a right pain in the arse to use and to get stuff running on. so far ive heard nothing bad about windows 7, and xp (which i use) does the job, but is a system resourse hog. if your getting a new system, then go for windows 7, if its an old system, use XP.

I've not had any trouble at all with Vista. Sure it takes quite a lot to run, but I have a gaming desktop anyway

XP plagued me with annoyances. Still need to order 7.

My Brother has Vista and hates it with a passion, mainly because he just expected it to be as user friendly as XP was for him, and it isn't.

I have XP and I've found it easy(ish) to use, and any problems have only been minor ones.

vista has more sercurity featers builtin to it, which are a real pain, basicly every time you want to run a program, a window pops up asking if you want to run it/open the disk, and you have to go into the user access panel to turn the feature off, in thory, it should be a good OS, but its not (imho) very user freindly, if you know what your doing, youcan get use to it, and soon getit working to suit you. but if your new to PC's then it willbe a bit of night mare to start with.
if your going for a new pc, like one of the 2 we discussed in pm's, then go for windows 7, and adviod vista like the plague.

I think vista is a bit more glossier than XP but I prefer XP hands down. Of 7 I have no idea. Maybe I'll hit youtube to see how it handles but I'm not bothered enough to do that just yet.

I recently upgraded from xp to windows 7.
I have a good System and it was well worth it (now have 4gb ram, 64bit :D) It takes a bit to get use to.
I have heard that it is also made to run on netbooks so it should work well and efficently on low end pc's as well.
I read a prevew saying that it (in its pre release stage) was better or as good as xp in I think every regard. After using xp for as long as I can rember I am very happy with how windows 7 works *touch wood*
I have nothing but comtemp for vista.
