Default I got L4D2, and i love it

Hey all, got myself the above mentioned game on saturday and i love it! more variety in weapons, levels and infected. One problem i found with L4D was that the levels were too linear for my liking but now there's more open levels with funny little things thrwon in for your entertainment (Gnome chompski FTW).

So what do you think of the game?
Favourite bit?
Least favourite?
funniest gameplay moment?

Mine are:
1 Love it
The increased Variety
AI too lethal when playing versus as infected
My first kill- a Spitter i opened the door at the bottom of the first stairs in the first episode and the spitter was there, but not for long! i capped her and gained first kill and first achievement.

Overall I think the game is gewd, but did they really need to release a new game just to add a melee function and new indected/weapons probably not but hell it did not stop me from buying no siree bob.

Favourite bit is probably the new campaigns, the new characters really add a new depth to the game. I mean the last one everyone seemed to know eachother and knew the zombie names! Also Coach...The man is uncle phil in disguise!!!

Least favourite bit...Scavange! I was revoulted to find a find the gas game mode instead of a lets mow down those zombie stiffs with a car or fast moving vehicle of some description!! I mean who in the hell is going to take on wave after wave of zombies to power a damn generator that only seems to light up the area in which you are standing there fore making more zombies think Lunch is over there!!!
!
Funniest game moment, Probably when me and my friends where getting the crap knocked out of us when we where humans, when we turned infected we knew that it was going to be tough fortunatly for us I had a lovely fluke moment that only fate can provide. The map was the town in swamp fever with the boat thing. The survivors thought it would be cool to stand near a river after seeing a charger six times. I made it not cool With a cry of "LETS GOOOO SWIMMING!!!" I charged and smacked each and everyone one of the buggers in to the swamp! :D Yay

I'm Sparticus!

No I'm Sparticus!

No I'm Sparticus!

Roman: Screw it there all Sparticus, kill'em all!

Wait! He's Sparticus! Yeah him! No he is!!!

I pre-ordered it, and I have to admit... it's one of my favorite games of all time. I said the same of Left 4 Dead, so clearly, this is an improvement over the original. That being said, L4D is still awesome.

My favorite thing, I think, is the melee system overall. My only complaint is that you can't keep a pistol and a close combat weapon and eschew a rifle in favor of one or the other. I also really like the wandering witches. They were too easy to avoid in the original, and at worst, you just had to slow down and walk past them. You can't really ignore them anymore-- the game puts them in a position where you pretty much have to kill them.

I also am completely in love with Dark Carnival. The fact that you get to interact with the theme park's attractions as much as you do while committing zombie genocide is just...awesome. Gnome Chompski also makes an excellent close combat weapon.

I think the only thing that I can honestly say irritated me about the game was the bit in Dead Center where you have to get the redneck a six pack of coke. When I heard him say he wouldn't help unless we went and got him a six pack, I just about went ballistic. If somebody pulled that during a zombie apocalypse, you'd have the survivors breaking that door down and beating his ass, not going, "Gee, sure, let's risk our lives for some soda." That little errand isn't trivial on Expert, either-- when your only course of action while holding the six pack is to shove enemies away, it's awfully hard to actually make it back to the gun store intact.

I'm not too big on the Swamp Fever campaign, but the awesomeness that is Dark Carnival and Hard Rain more than make up for it, I think.

Yeah Swamp Fever isn't all that hot but the rest of the campaigns rock.

Favourite bit?

Chainsaw. 'nuff said

Least favourite?

Inability to have a pistol and a melee weapon, makes absolutely NO sense.

funniest gameplay moment?

Standing at the top of a stairwell with the chainsaw during a zombie rush so they had to run up them to get to me. Blood, guts, and bodies everywhere thanks to the awesomeness that is the chainsaw. Went absolutely insane when it happened and laughed like a maniacal psychopath as I cut down one zombie after another. My son was watching me play when it happened and he said that the laughter I was putting out was disturbing in the extreme

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

I think just tagging new weapons and everything into the old L4D would of just been lazy, infact i'd be pretty angry since i don't play online (too many 10yr old kids who cry and swear when you kill them) and so i'd be left without new weapons and stuff.

And yeah the way the characters start off not knowing each other, but get learn about each other as the campaigns progress is nice, and not going "witch! even though this is just supposed to of happened i know what she is!", though i was going through the Sugar mill and heard someone go "there's the bitch" when they saw her XD. And how the campaigns link up, and make a coherent story line is nice.

I completely agree with you on this, it is annoying how you can either have pistols or melee, why not both?

And yes witches that you can't just walk slowly past actually gives some realism to the zombie apoc.

It's okay i'm sure your son wno't be a chainsaw weilding psycho

The cahinsaw is a fun weapon, and i like the fact it is a finite use weapon, it runs out of juice. You ever used the chainsaw on a witch wraithlord? kills them fast. or as an advert might put it:

"Chainsaws, kill 99.9% of witches. FACT."

They pretty clearly had to take the CR0WND achievement out for that reason... the chainsaw kills witches in one hit.

The Tank Burger achievement irritates me, though. If ANYONE shoots the tank, the achievement is void, even if you finish the tank with a melee weapon. To get it, I had to kill the AI players and go one-on-one with the tank with a machete, which...was slightly ridiculous.

Yeah but read what you wrote Horus, you went toe-to-toe with the damned thing on your own armed only with the machete. It sounds so damned epic!

Seriously, is it really that hard to write reviews without spoilers?

That's true. It involved hitting the tank a couple times, getting punched across the screen, taking a shot/pills, repeating, going to an AI player's corpse, picking up the pills/shot they had, and using it. Rinse and repeat. On expert it takes 25 blows from a close combat weapon to kill the tank... so finding a place that the tank gets slowed down moving through helps out a fair bit, as you can sometimes get five blows in before it hits you.

I love the clowns in DC. The fact that the other zombies go hell bent for leather to attack him because of his squeaky shoes is hysterical.
