hmm well I play it religiously and have two main characters that I use all the time! I don't think it's dying, maybe in some people's small communities. I have yet to really get into guild battles or anything since all I want to do is level up. It kicks the crap outta WOW IMO any day. Nothing beats dying and NOT having to travel from the grave yard millions of miles away to find your body, gawd I HATE WOW

I prefer real life to MMORPGs. Sorry, couldn't resist saying that.

However, trying to do a WOW is suicidal. WOW, crap though it is, is an incredibly popular game (don't know why, though). Instead, maybe GW should've not made it Pay Per Month, and made it a standalone purchase. That would make me choose it over WOW any day.

WoW runs fine on shitty computers. That's the edge it has over all these other, more esoteric MMORPGS. Guild Wars was a nice idea: pay once for the game, no monthly fee, easy levels, and lots of expansions. The only problem was that it's minimum requirements were head-and-shoulders above WoW's. Warhammer Online requires a goddamn steroid machine to run at minimum specs, which is why WoW is more popular.

The vast majority of people who play computer games don't invest enough money in them to be able to play high-end stuff. I happen to be one of those people, unfortunately. If my computer could run WHO, I'd drop WoW in less than a heartbeat.

Still play WAR, still think it's far better than WoW. I think it's an awesome MMORPG that is still in it's early days and will get better still.

WoW's strength are in it's low specs, MAC compatibility (since there are a lot of MAC users out there who have sod all else they can play), sense of community (probably related to it's lighter atmosphere) and that fact that it's a damn good game that came out at exactly the right time and has become the de-facto name in the genre. I would also be interested to find out what percentage of WAR players are female as WoW did a fantastic job of attracting a really mixed demographic.

I'd like to pick it up now specially with the free expansion coming out soon.

It's off to the dead lands.

Yeah, I think WAR is slowly fading into oblivion, quite sad really, I was really excited about this game. Although apparently a 40K mmo is coming in a couple years and provided it's not crap i'll buy like a hundred copies!
Blizzard are working on a new MMO based on fresh IP. It'll kill this 40k MMO dead in its tracks.

I wish GW would stop releasing shit games.

you guys raise great points about WoW. I know I get pretty pissed that my laptop barely runs the game. Graphics popping can be annoying, buuutttt... getting into the warhammer world and killing shit makes my day, regardless of the popping graphics!

I don't know how a 40k MMO would work... I just can't see how a SCI FI MMO would really be successful.

depends when it comes out, like u said blizzards new mmo is a fresh ip. so they have to build it from the ground up which may take longer than the 40k mmo to come out. if the 40k mmo comes out before blizzard starts telling what their new mmo is, and the 40k mmo is actually good, it might survive.
