Default Help with Steam- 'Secure Connection Failed'

+Rep to anyone who can help!

When playing Steam based multiplayer games online (all games I play are HLs or Source mods) I often dis connect from the server with the message 'Secure Connection Failed'- though oddly I've never got this in Insurgency. This is very annoying and my attempts so far to stop it have met with no success. So far I've tried playing with my firewall and anti-virus software turned off- still disconnected. After searching for ways to stop it I was told deleting some file could help- this made Steam and it's games go unplayably slow so I restored the old file.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to cure this?

Try this.

Fully exit out of Steam.
Find your "Steam" folder (C:\Program Files\Steam, I'd assume).
Delete "ClientRegistry.blob".
Restart your computer and log into Steam. It should download the file and reconnect Steam to a working validation server.

This is probably what you tried before, but try it again, with the restart.

Except the Source games run solely in Steam and are all frankly amazing. For a good 90% of people, Steam has no major problems at all these days.

So is it just uninstalling Steam or would I have to uninstall all my games as well?

As I have the slowest broadband I've ever heard of, 576kbps, it would take days to re-install all my mods, though thankfully I have HL1 and 2 on disk.

I didn't delete the games but I din't have many on it. Could've been a bad download ucking with it or something
