While I have yet to play multiplayer (and likely won't, not my bag with RTS games) I have to say that I absolutely LOVE the game. I have finished it once already and am currently on my way through the campaign a second time, this time going with different abilities for my squads entirely. The lack of base building in this game is THE BEST THING EVER!! Mission starts and off you go with your squads, no worrying about spending time defending a base from the early rush, building to hit tier 2 asap so you can get the better units, etc. Just choose your wargear before the mission and play. The game is entirely focused on the battle, nothing else. I hope to hell more games go with this format.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

I think it's a huge advance over the original. I had all the supplements to that and it was a pretty traditional base building RTS. DoW II is not, it's something new and better. I'm really glad that somebody has come along with something so different, because the "build a base then rush" thing is pretty old now.

Amen to that.

The original and its expansions was good fun and all but all but they're all pretty much the same. I really enjoy the new game as its entirely different game from the first, so its nice to see them re-build it from the ground up.

My only real gripe with it so far is that I wish they had some of the other armies in it, so I wont hear a Battle Sister scream "BURRNING - GLORRRR-REEEE!11!!1" in an Immolator tank anymore (The 1's are intentional by the way ) - but that will come with time. I'm really looking forward to seeing where the game goes from here!

A plea of innocence, is guilty of wasting my time. Guilty!

Or you could just run it through Steam under Offline mode?

I think DoW is getting a poor deal here, i thought it was a cracking game especially over LAN with your mates, we had some monsters of games that went on for 3 hours or so grinding down your enemy forces, co-oping with you mates was great fun. Compared with base building games like Supreme commander the bases were very easy to build and maintain. Anyway, back to DoW2

It ok. Im finding the scale of it a little dissapointing, when i heard about a DoW 2 i thought they had the oppertunity to go Epic scale, similar to a Total War kind of game. Aircraft flashing in, artillery, armoured clashes and massed infantry assaults etc. DoW is good dont get me wrong, visually its stunning and i like how close it it to CoH (one of my favourite games) i just thought in the massive, brutal dark world of 40k the could have gone "up" in scale not "down."

Ah well

Real Men/Women/Aliens/Heretics/Warp Spawned Filth/Big Scary Space Monsters play Battlefleet Gothic... why dont you???

You would rather play a bugged game?
Three patches in a matter of days says one thing. Relic are listening to the players and are fixing problems as and when they're discovered, it'd seem.
