World Tour for a couple of reasons. First is that the drum set is a bit more involved in that the cymbals/high hats are actually separate pads and the second is that Tool is on the setlist with 3 songs

Also cool are the slidebar on the guitar and the linked notes that show up every so often in songs that require no strumming.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

World Tour is the winner in my book. Rock Band 2 has a lot of songs, but most of them are from obscure artists that few people have heard of, let alone like lol. WT, on the other hand, has loads of awesome songs that are easily recognizable.

Also, I heard Tool actually had to pay Activision to get their songs on the set list...has anyone else heard about this?

im not a fan of tool, so im not worried if they had to pay or not.

i was under the impression that rock band and guitar hero were made by the same people. is this true ?

No, they are two separate companies C.

Well, the company that made Guitar Hero 1 and 2 sold the trademark to whoever holds it now. The Guitar Hero people then made Rock Band, and from Guitar Hero 3 on it was the new company.

I would recommend Rock Band, because of two things:

1. The Guitar Hero drum set has cymbals. What they don't tell you is the cymbals don't frigg'n work. Expect to get a missed note 3/4ths of the time you hit the cymbal.

2. Take what Captain Galus said, and reverse it. Rock Band 2 has more recognizable songs, and World Tour has the obscure foreign language/emo bullcrap. However, that might be due to the fact that we just listen to different music, maybe he likes foreign music and emo bullcrap, I don't know him. (He might take a listen to what's on my MP3 player and run screaming from the forum, but that's the average reaction.)

3. this is a personal thing, but I liked Rock Band 2's career mode more than Guitar Hero's. Guitar Hero makes you pay money to get sets, pay money to open up characters, pay money for this, pay money for that in order to keep playing the game. Rock Band treats money as a bonus, you can dress up your dude however you like but you aren't required to.

What I did was buy both. I bought the Rock Band 2 band set and a World Tour guitar and game set so I could play as a full band in both games when I had friends over.

I prefer world tour a lot more than rock band. Main reason is it's a lot cheaper. in gamestop GH is 180 for the drums, guitar and game. Rockband is 200 with the guitar, drums and no game in the box set. I liek the drum set up on world tour a lot more too.... they just seemed easier to play and on the hardest difficulty felt fairly similar to proper electric drum kits I've used. That gives it a plus for me too. The songs doesn't really matter much as you can download a bucketload of other ones online. and the slider is a fun new add on. Not game breaking but fun none the less

If you shit in one hand and wish in the other we all know which one will fill up faster.

And as I walk in the valley of the shadow of death I will have no fear For I am the scariest mother f*cker in that goddamned valley!

Damn nature, You Scary!!!

Yeah, I actually heard that Rock Band is a lot more expensive compared to what it's sold for in the US for some reason.

Here, they're the same price, $190 for either one's full set.
