Default Games you love that go unnoticed

What with the Worst Game Ever! thread proving useful in sharing opinions on what NOT to buy, what about a thread for those wonderful games that dropped off the radar and go by pretty much unrecognised by most?

To kick things off, God Hand, a prime example of an awesome but underappreciated game, great music, quirky gameplay, and a generally strong example of how to make a really fun beat-em-up. On top of that, odds are you'll be able to find it in most preowned game shops pretty cheap (first place I looked in after hearing about it on another site, I picked it up for a tenner, and it has more than paid for itself by now).

So lets hear some recomendations from other people, links are handy, even if its just a wiki link or something similar, who knows, maybe this thread will spawn a few new favorite games for people.

The Suikoden series if you're into RPGs. The series has won several awards, particularly for 1 and 2 for Best Music and Best Storyline. Prince Luca Blight is widely considered to be the most powerful villain who never uses magic.

Quote:
*sigh* I have to point out that despite what you see in games, lasrifles win wars. Just because lasrifles suck at killing superhuman killing machines in power armor does not mean that they are bad weapons. You are shooting them at the wrong targets. The most common enemy the Imperium faces is lightly armored humans armed with lasguns or autoguns, NOT SPACE MARINES.

Crackdown for the 360. I loved that game so much (especially when you level up to god-like status), simply because you were so powerful at the ending that all the enemies basically couldn't do anything except die. I also loved the great free-roam (the entire city is open from the beginning, no "locked" areas), and the gangs themselves. The character models were meh, but I normally only saw people as they cam under gunfire or massive, ham-like fists.

You'll forgive me, but you must be mistaken. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name...

Road Rash on the 3DO, (I think it was sorta re-released on the Playstation, not 100% there) just loved the music, over the top character design and same ole classic Road Rash gameplay as it was on the Megadrive. Its still one franchise I'd love to see come back, but only if they stay faithful to the original 2 games and the 3DO game, the biker gang one was awful.

Also Silent Hill (most 1-3,) most folks instantly pull Resident Evil out of the bag as the best Survival horror, and don't get me wrong I like the Resi games, but Silent Hill has them over a barrel when it comes to genuine scares and an amazing horror themed story.

Arx Fatalis - RPG set in a gloomy dungeon world, pretty good atmosphere.

Battle Realms - fantasy RTS in the style of feudal japan, cool armies.

Both are somewhat old but have aged well imo.

Oh and one of my fave games of all time which didn't even get a UK release was 'Warsong' on the Genesis (US Megadrive) a great turn based strategy game. I'd love to find it again, but the only time I've seen it on ebay it was up for £60 odd and my nostalgia isn't worth that much.
