Search every box, shelf, crate, desk, plantpot, statue or dead body etc....no matter what!

No matter how high-tech the game, the shotgun and crowbar are always the best ways to kill people

Game designers hate game players

Just what the hell is in a medi-pack ?

Computers cheat!

A I is always a bad thing

The last thing you should do when attacked by aliens is seal yourselves up in a small, cramped, tightly confined area in a base infested with said aliens

Turn the motion scanner off, knowing whats coming and the sound will only stress you out more

Never trust large corporations

Never trust military inteligence

Bad guys have whole armies, the good guys have one poor sucker, YOU!

Bad guys look cooler

You never get an ugly bad girl

Everyone knows martial arts

They always give you the good stuff right after a fight it would have realy helped in

The only true lightsaber colour is a red one!

Bad stuff happens;
when the lights go out
the music gets tense
any gateway, portal or wormhole is opened
THEY say "it should be relativly easy....."
any preasure gauge cracks or breaks due to preasure
Nasi's and the occult meet

In all seriousness, the main campaign from Age of Empires 2 taught me so bloody much about history. Saladin, ghengis, those blokes templar...I lapped it up. It actually had a real life use too! I was doing a history quiz in year 8 or or something, and I got the question right (about saladin I think) purely because of AoE2. Thankyou AoE2.

The higher the number at the end of a name, the harder the developers have to try to make it not suck (Doom 3 and Fallout 3 are exempt from this as they fucking rule)

If you've just fought a tonne of Imps and mutants thereof, you have next to no ammo and about 60 health, you're about to fight a Doom boss. - Case in point: Doom 3

Even with high explosives, a missile launcher, and a bucket of grenades, you absolutely, positively MUST jump through 3-6 hours of mindless hoops and backtracking, usually involving overly intricate puzzles revolving around forgotten books of the bible, the zodiac, or some esoteric/occult eccentricity, because, you know, a few planks, a couple 2x4's, and a custom lock prove to be impenetrable to above mentioned explosives. (ala Resident Evil series/Silent Hill series).

Level me up! I, too, wish to storm the lands of mortals reaping what is truly mine...but for now, I am but a wee spot of energy...

Wherever the game asks you if you want to save (or has a plainly visible save point before you walk through a door), you're about to encounter something that has a decent chance of killing you.

The computer does, in fact, cheat. Particularly in RTS games.

Apparently, one can survive being shot dozens of times, find a nice corner to sit down in, and be no worse for the wear.

Running over pedestrians while driving is rarely a felony.

Nazis, communists, and arabs all magically respawn if you wait around long enough. Thus, the key to immortality is to be a nazi, a communist, or an Islamic militant...

Head shots are not only easy but encouraged.
Said wounds are always fatal (the actual spot you'd need to hit to instantly kill someone is smaller than a quarter).
Grenades just knock you out.
Shotguns have a three-foot spread at ten feet away.
Reloading is fast and easy!
You can accurately aim a weapon after taking a bullet anywhere.
The Desert Eagle is not only light and user-friendly, but cheap and mass-produced!
^^Every shooter ever^^

Always rack the slide when putting in a new clip, even if there is a bullet already in the chamber...which is stupid. (Any Battlefield game)

This thread got me thinking...if there was ever a shooter made where it was perfectly realistic, it probably wouldn't be all that fun
