Skyrim - What's your Dragonborns backstory?
due to Skyrims 3rd birthday today, I want to start a thread discussing the lore of your dragonborn(s)
Over my many play throughs of Skyrim, I've had several Dragonborns that I like. A Redguard Witchdoctor, Nord Theif/Bowman, an Imperial Paladin, but the one that stands out for me most was my Orc Berserker.
A direct descendent of the Champion of Cyrodiil, He rode north to seek his fortune in a war torn land, and to redeem his bloodline from a curse placed by Malacath.
here's a 1st person journal entry from an RP diary of Korgo, my Orc.
I awoke in a cart next to some nords and a horse thief that ran into me down the road, I was going to take care of him when we got to where ever it is we were headed, but I ended up not needing to...more on that later. I was traveling north into Skyrim when the horse thief crashed into me at a crossroad and scared my horse off, I saw some Imperials after him and went to catch him until they caught up. Coming down another road I saw some Nords also being chased by the Legion. In the chaos, the Legionnaires captured me, the thief and the Nords I tried to explain who I was but they knocked me out before I could say anything.
When I came to, I thought to myself how I got mixed up in this, How my family got on Malacaths bad side and if he will even give me a chance to bring my family honor. I, being so easily defeated, I would hold no hatred for the Great Malacath if he chose not to. It all started with My ancestor Gargok, The Champion of Cyrodiil. He was abandoned as a child and became a scavenger, taking what he could to survive. In his early adulthood he was becoming desperate and tried to over take an Imperial Caravan carrying food. Needless to say he was captured and sent to prison. He prayed to Malacath, and help came in the way of the Emperor himself, Uriel Septim VII. Gargok helped Uriel and his private guards escaped some assassins. Gargok learned a bit about his fate and became part of something bigger than he could have ever imagined, he would not waste this blessing.
Over the following years, Gargok became very well known Gladiator, Head of the Fighters Guild, Lord of his own estate and worked directly with Uriels son to stop the Daedric God Mehrunes Dagon, a fact at which he hoped Malacath would be particularly pleased with. In his later years he married another orc warrior Mazoga and united The Fighters Guild with her White Stallion Mercenaries, and his own Battlehorn Legion, together they soon became the most sought after heroes of the 3rd era.
However fame is not without price. Countless attempts on his life occurred through assassins, hot headed fortune seekers, and the last members of the Mythic Dawn, but all fell beneath his sword. He bore two sons, Thruk and Borga, who he personally trained to become even greater warriors than he was. When his children were in their late teens, he vanished one day, with no hints to his whereabouts, except rumors of some portal in Niben Bay, but no traces of it have ever been found.
The Great Matron Mazoga eventually succumbed to old age. and the two brothers split the clan right down the middle in a power struggle to be the head of the family. We became weak, and Malacath had no desire for such things, one by one the family fell to various causes, sickness, coordinated bandit attacks, debt collectors...even my own mother in a rather embarrassing slaughterfish accident. It all comes down to me now. There was nothing left for me in Cyrodiil, I seek a new beginning in Skyrim, as the last of my line, I cannot fail. I pray to Malacath to allow one last chance to prove that I have what it takes to bring my name and his to glory.
