Default Alien: Isolation.

So I'm a die hard alien fanboy, the two alien movies are great but there was room for improvement in the second one.

One of the flaws of it is that Ripley's daughter was a fairly important plot point but was skimmed over without a second though. All we hear is that she died a few years ago and that's it.

Alien isolation fixes that, basically it's Amanda trying to find out what happened to her mother.

The gameplay is focused on stealth and alien horror. There is a bit of action but it's a last resort measure.

It might not be for everyone but anyone disappointed with how aliens was handled should get some relief from the sting.

Do you mean games? Pretty sure there are four movies (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection), not including the Alien vs. Predator movies.

My buddy was talking this new game up to me somethin' fierce. One of my favourite games is Splinter Cell (been following that for eons it seems), is the stealthy factor of Isolation similar to that kind of game-play?

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

Its first person Horror I think. So it probably isn't too similar.

Grabbed the game yesterday and am about an hour into it and I am quite liking it. Now, I must say that I am terrible with horror movies and games, so I am not sure how other people will experience the horror elements, but I personally have been sitting at the edge of my seat just one step away from hurling the controller into the TV for the past half hour.

Picked this up yesterday and got to playing it when I got home from work last night. About an hour in, haven't even come across the damn alien yet and I'm jumping at shit (my character isn't because Ripley has no idea whats really going on yet.)

Game recommends you play on hard mode for the best experience, not that it matters once the alien shows up. Tried out survivor on easy to test the controls and hud and the thing is a one hit kill no matter what.

Fucking loving every minute of it, can't wait until tonight when I can play some more.

@ntaw, kinda-sorta. Theres no indicator to tell you if your hidden and its all in first person, but the few survivors I've come across so far do need lights and you (and others) are much easier to spot in locations with even a little bit of light. The alien is also supposed to be very smart, designed to work around a number of factors and not just moving along one or two pre-designed paths.

Damnation is paved on good intentions; subtle and sugar coated or blunt and honest
A hero is someone who steps up when everyone else backs down.
Popularity is what people strive for when they lack the strength to be themselves.

Seriously, is it really that hard to write reviews without spoilers?

@darkreever that was exactly the description I was looking for. I used to play Splinter Cell on the hardest setting and 100% not be seen, and I love Alien (and horror/sci-fi in general), therefore I feel like I will love this game.

Whoa gameplay videos have me by the balls. Will have to pick this up....plus the lady's favourite movie is Aliens, so maybe she won't mind this game as much as Space Marine

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

I prefer to pretend that the aliens series ended with aliens. Even then things are going down hill.

They killed off two characters in alien 3 for stupid reasons. Then they killed Ripley only to bring a clone back in resurrection.

Then there's also the fact that a single squad of marines is supposed to be the only crew on a ship that size going into an unknown situation. Since they seem to have a need for space marines it implies that they fight on other planets all the time so unless they're there just to be cool it's stupid.

Fortunately colonial marines fixes a few of those plot holes.

and yes both avp games are great.

Apparently the alien reacts to noises that you make such as running, or heavy breathing - from running - and also to light and noise.
Unfortunately your motion tracker gives off both of these!
