Five Nights at Freddy's

Has anybody else found or played this game here yet? A few of my skype buddies were talking about it and then I saw the banner on one of the other websites I frequent, so I figured why not.

For those who haven't seen or played it, the game is an indie developed simplistic game, but it scores huge points from me for being equal parts addictive, frustrating and terrifying. Just the kind of thing you need for a spare hour here and there. It's available on Steam and Desura for five bucks.

The premise is survival horror, but unlike other games your character does not move. You remain stationary is a security guard's office, monitoring the surveillance cameras at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. It has a simple point and click interface. The summary of the game is here:

So, the game starts off simply enough. You check the cameras, you watch the animatronic characters make steady progress from room to room seemingly at random. You never actually see them move, as they freeze when you switch on the camera in the room they're in. If you run out of electricity, you're basically screwed. The first night is easy, the second night drops a bombshell you weren't told about before;
and from the third night onwards you really have your work cut out for you.

So has anyone else played it? Beaten it? Heard of it?

I played it before. Its okay. I mean Jumpscares are jumpscares, and if i only look at the fact the only thing that is scary is the jump scares then its not that great of a game.

However the concept of the game is great, a creepy pizza place with creepy Chuckie Cheese-esque animatronics that are out to murder you. With a bit of Whovian Weeping angel mechanics mixed in.

I love the atmosphere but don't enjoy the gameplay too much.

I bought the game but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Heard about it via youtube.

My youtube channel. Feel free to stop by and have a look if you're interested. I do Airsoft, some warhammer related videos, and gaming videos.

R.I.P. Uncle Lee. You will be greatly missed by us all. We will see each other again some day.

How much did you actually play? The fourth and fifth night onwards are heavier on psychological torture than the earlier ones. There are flashes across the screen and more sounds that don't seem to have any origin to them. The jumpscares are really only half the fear factor but I agree that eventually they do lose the ability to actually scare you.

I've seen the whole game and played the first few nights.

I agree it is rather atmospheric later on, I just rather distaste the game play, though it does build tension from it limitations.

I love the atmosphere and the story behind the game more than anything, as well as the speculation among players it breeds.

its got a good concept and an interesting story, however I realy have a hard time seeing it as a horror game. I Was a bit dissapointed with it, but its still a pretty decent game.

The sequel is supposedly going to allow the player to move around while still checking the cameras. There's also a rumour that you'll be able to visit the place during the day. What that means I'm not sure, but it sounds like the creator is aiming to make the second game more involved than the first.
