Default Magic Online

I've been getting pretty bored online recently looking for something to do.

Would anyone recommend getting into Magic Online? I havent realy played magic much but it seems like a fun thing to do to kill a few hours.

It's not bad. I played around with it for a while, but I got bored.

Last time I played, the basic game can be had for free. You're limited to a few pre-made starter decks (one of each color, if I recall) and stuck in the newbie room. After that you have to buy your own cards and tournie tickets with real money...for the same price as real cards. That bit kind of irked me

If you were to hypothetically want to try those decks you absolutely already have () online for free, I strongly recommend Apprentice or Magic Workstation. Think Vassal for M:TG.
I might start playing again, too. Sliver decks! To hell if they're not tourny legal, I lose track. They're fun!

Magic online is pretty fun but I prefer to play it in real life. Why dont you go get a box and draft. That kills tons of time.

I vouch for the 'forbidden programs' better known as apprentice and Workstation; paying money for e-cards? :ICK!:

MTGO is a nice way to spend some hours, but you have to invest in online cards. Or, for the less pretty version, you can play on the servers of Magic Workstation for free, with every card, ever. Some people are jerks, but a lot of people spend time play-testing decks on there in a serious fasion. I do.
