Default how do i make games run faster?

I installed BF2 ( battlefield 2 ) the other week and its working fine, well sometimes it lags abit and i was wondering how i made it run faster without getting a more powerful graphics card or more ram in my current one?

Argh battlefield 2, bane of my computer. Hmm yeah, Firewolf is right in all respects there - it all depends on what you're playing on.

'course. If you're not on a low graphics setting, try taking some stuff down.
On game's like battlefield 2, all you need is a long view distance so the damn snipers don't have an advantage when you're not one, and so when you're sniping, you can see as far as possible. For me at least, everything else is unimportant.

thanks for the help, i deleted some programs i didn`t need and it is running faster and lagging is rarer. i will either get a better card as there are alot of good games i cannot run or cary on deleting unused stuff

Never played bf2 2142 but you can also run system defragment and check for viruses and spyware because that could also be a major slowdown.
