Default Steam Install Freezes

Ok, so just recently my laptop went through an endless loop of automatic repair (though it would never do anything but take me to a list of more options to try such as resetting the PC, which worked for all of 30 minutes when I chose the option, then reverted back to endless automatic repair loop and wouldn't work again after the first time), so I called the Lenovo techies, bought a disk that would reinstall the Operating System. Got it all worked out and had the OS reinstalled. Now when I try to reinstall Steam, the install freezes and no progress is made at all. Did the same thing before having to reinstall the OS, and the problem then was the anti virus I had installed was messing with the install. Fixed it then, but thats not the problem now.

The OS before the reinstall was Windows 8, now its Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Anyone got any ideas how I can fix this? It would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Nevermind. Just figured it out. Got Steam reinstalled and all is right again. If a mod views this thread, feel free to close it

Steam is a little glitchy.

I suspect other people might get this issue: how did you solve it?

Followed the directions of another guy that had the same problem. Run Ccleaner and clean out the registries, download Winrar, extract the steam files to a new folder using winrar, and rename Steam.exe1 to Steam.exe then run the application.
