Default Halo 4 disk destroyed

Hey guys,

I just started up Halo 4 to play some multiplayer and noticed only half of the audio was working. (I could hear my Assault rifle firing but when I shot a shotgun there was no sound)
The sounds for most weapons were gone and so were the engine sounds of the vehicles, menu music and the Spartan Ops background chatter.

When I removed the disk from my Xbox it had a 360 degree scratch over the disk.
So either my Xbox disproves the plot or it has failed me after 4 years.
Weird thing is that this has never happened with any game before.

I just sent an email to Microsoft about it and was wondering if anyone else has had this experience?

My girlfriend said she didn't like Daft Punk. She's single now. Hahahahahaha lol, just kidding. She's dead...

I had that happen to me once when I took my x-box apart and put it back together to get the laser working. Under normal circumstances though no. I'm sorry to hear that bud. Have you risked playing other games now or are you too worried about it scratching up another game?

If it is a perfect circle, sounds like something has got into the system like a piece of grit or dust thrown up when cleaning. Try an anti static duster wiped in the insides.

I have had it running a few old games the past 30 minutes, nothing happened.

When I played Halo Reach a few weeks back my Xbox made some weird noises but it did no damage to the disk, now it runs smooth and quiet and it suddenly makes 1mm scratches.

It's not perfectly circular, it's wobbly and it gets thicker and thinner at certain points.

If the Xbox moves in any manner (like, half a millimeter or something) it can fuck up your disc. My copy of CoD Black Ops died half a year or so ago mid game, and when I ejected it I noticed that it had gotten a circle of sorts scratched into it that killed it.

My Battlefield 3 suffered the same fate, the past two weeks however the console has not been moved at all.

They do, but only for a select number of games, all Halo games are on tht list, except for Halo 4, but it might be they still need to update it.
