Dunno about the loads of units part, Nids, Orks, IG?

A army that is good and solid is Chaos imo.

But really, any army works as long as you learn a good build order and what upgrades (if any) to buy your hero.

Yeah I tried Chaos, I got told to just make loads of csms though and it kind of worked but it was pretty boring.

So you want something entertaining? Try 3v3 on Capital Spire and spam 5+ Manticores.

(Just watch out for fucking Infiltrating Stormtrooper Squads with meltaguns if you are against IG.)

Nah, bunkering down is not the best of options. While it IS possible to create a good defensive position that can keep your normal kid stuck crying in his corner for the rest of the game, any more advanced player will just walk through it with, say, a Basilisk Creeping Barrage guided in by Stormtroopers, with the army walking in behind them.

A crippling offense tends to be the best option. Also, when possible, when you have forced the enemy to retreat, if possible, send a squad with a flamer to scorch their gens. I often dedicate, say, a Devil Dog with the IG entirely to bashing generators. Keeps the fuckers on their toes, and often forces them to leave an entire AT squad sitting close by to sine back field generator.

Edit: But a Techmarine/Plague champion can be a real fucking pain in the arse if he finds some unflankable corner where he can put two turrets covering each other with their arcs of fire. Like, uh, Angel Forge in 3v3. -_-

I've not tried the plague champion yet, but have tried techmarine and it's my favoured champion for when I use SM.

I just had a 2 on 2 annihilation which I won and was quite happy because we almost got destroyed. I used the sorcerer and the summoning of blood letters is great when you're in a tight squeeze.

I tried the chaos dread to, it's good with missile, not so much with two weapons pretty much because it's like a wild dog when set loose :p

I stuck to just using normal CSMs and upgrading them, although I'm wondering whether I should try the blood letters and juggernaut next time.

Just played a game for new players and guy immediately goes for manticores and wipes out my entire army everytime i try to put up a fight, he was a noob I guess.

Edit: Tried the plague champion in 3 vs 3 point battle and did really good, sat on one point and dominated it.
