Default Mechwarrior Games

I've not seen these posted up here yet, there's not one but 2 new Mech Warrior games in the pipeline.

Mechwarrior Online is an MMORPG in the World of Tanks style. So that means Free to Play but you can purchase Premium Accounts which let you earn moonbuck and XP faster, and presumably you can buy Gold Mechs and ammo etc as well. The closed Beta has started and you by buy the early adopters packages in June. I am ridiculously excited to play this game as I love World of Tanks and Mechwarrior and the best thing is if they mess it all up then it hasn't cost a penny.

The second game is MechWarrior tactics which is more like the table top game Battletech which the franchise is based on. The most interesting part of this to me is the Asynchronous combat, allowing you to play-by-mail essentially.

I'm a HUGE fan of mechwarrior games. Started out playing battletech way back in the day. Even had the card game. Will be playing both of these!

It's a damn shame that MechWarrior, the reboot, fell off the radar. I was really looking forward to that game but these made me require a changing of pants.

I never bothered with the tabletop or card games, but I was always hardcore about the video games. Played them all, especially Mercenaries. BTW, MW4: Mercenaries was made free to download and play for anyone looking for some nostalgia. It's a solid title. The developers own torrent thing is a pain in the ass, though.

Outstanding. Seriously, I thought the world had forgotten how awesome this whole franchise was. Very excited to get these games.

I have heard a lot of good things about the MMO version. It is supposed to be very true to the original.

confirmed my beta sign up this morning, now to see if i get in or not.
From reading comments from the devs, they are trying to stear away from the pay to win format with premium accounts items (gold ammo in Wot anyone?), with the main bonus being more cash xp gained over easy kills.
Once the game goes live, if i realy enjoy it, i can see me stoping my premium account on WoT and switching it (as in cash spent) to my Mech account

Erm, World of Tanks works just fine. I'm referring to the Free to Play nature of the game with being able to pay for your account which increases the rate at which you accrue XP and cash. I would ask if you had played it, but you don't have a computer so it seems unlikely. Just pitching in with an unhelpful comment about something you know nothing about, how unlike you.

I've signed up for the Beta as well, hopefully get in on it. It looks good just now and if it works out I think I'll be moving over from World of Tanks to this.
