Default DICE Dev's announce 64Bit OS's required for some 2013 Frosbite2 Games

Afternoon All,

A recent announcement by Dice developers has stated that some of the Games that will be released in 2013 using the Frostbite2 Engine will REQUIRE that you are using a 64Bit OS in order to run them.

Article on PCGamer

By all accounts and from the words spoken by Johan Andersson, Dice's Frostbite Rendering Architect, much more RAM is going to be needed by your PC/Laptop to be able to run the games as their power requirements are going to be increased significantly to afford better performance and probably cope with the increased capabilities of the Graphics Engine.

In my opinion it is about time that Games were pushed into this Era and out of the Dinosaur Age of 32Bit OS's. Far more Programs and Applications are 64Bit capable these days and have been using it since the 1990's. Hell, 64Bit has been used since the 1970's, admitedly on a Super Computers, but it was there. It was simply a matter of convinience or a 'thats enough so we'll stick with that' mind set which has held the CPU field back quite a ways.

Anyway, i'm rambling.

Enjoy

Alice

Default

Already have it. So no complaints from me.

Problem is the 32bit OS's are running perfectly on my computer - some exclusively 64bits within the next few years are likely to cause me a right pain in the arse with upgrading it.
