Default Unreal Engine 4 - First Images

Afternoon,

Many of you know of the great success that is Epic Game Studio's Unreal Engine. It powers Games from hundreds of developers ,and since its advent, the Unreal 3 Engine alone has powered more than 150.

Now its successor has been completed and we have been granted a view of some of the first images it has borne forth into our world from its own:

UNREAL ENGINE 4 - First Images

Hopefully this will change Epic's mind about waiting to make Unreal Tournament 4. (And hopefully it won't be the pile of proverbial that Unreal Tournament 3 was).

Enjoy

Alice

I liked UT3, while it wasn't enough different from its previous incarnations - I found it quite enjoyable.

UT4 would be nice - especially if they revisit they first Unreal Tournament Maps for a special edition! - hard to believe the Game that started it all off (UT99) is 13 years old this year!

That is not strictly true, my friend. Those images were made on a single GeForce GTX 680.
No need for any SLi at all. But still prohibitively expensive for some people.

There was nothing whatsoever wrong with UT3. The gameplay was smooth and it took all the strongest points of UT and UT04. It wasn't either of these, but nothing ever will be again so that's not a problem. It was still an Unreal Tournament game, and it did that bloody well.

Oh, and I suppose the engine looks okayish. But let's face it. Still images from an engine mean precisely fuck all.
The only thing that matters is performance in game situations, more specifically, the developers working with it need to be good at what they do.

Graphics mean nothing whatsoever. There's a reason that Quake 3 is still the undeniable best shooter in mechanics to ever exist. There's also a reason that the vast majority of popular franchises out there today are still using modified versions of id Tech 3 as an engine base.
