Default Onboard memory query

Hey guys,
Ive just bought Skyrim for my laptop and Ive checked YouGamers to see if it will run Skyrim, what I got back was that my video card has only 64mb of onboard memory. Apparently I need 512MB to run skyrim but I must ask first before I run to the shop.
Is it only 65mb because of other games?
On my laptop I have got installed, DOW2, DOW2 Chaos Rising, DOW, DOW Winter Crusade, DOW Soulstorm, Rome: Total War and Oblivion. Im not sure if these take up space on my video card memory cos Im rubbish at technology
Thanks in advance.

Short answer: No, they are not taking up space.

The memory in a video card is used to store and process information about the images it is producing.

This gives you a rundown... DOW IIRC runs mostly on your CPU processor... which may be why you haven't had an issue yet. Also, some graphics cards will run off you RAM. Either way, you might have issues with Skyrim because you are well below minimum requirements.

Run Speccy:

and post the results here. I'm sure one of us will be able to tell you if you're able to run it or not.

Intel(R) HD Graphics

That is your graphics card.

It is built into your processor.

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/...developer.html

I don't know a lot about these because in the past they were shit.

You have 3 GBs of RAM and from what I understand of these, it will use a combination of your CPU and RAM....

This is a video of someone running skyrim on a computer with your integrated card.

Memory - 4096MB RAM
DirectX 11
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU/ M 380 @ 2.53GHz (4 CPU's), ~ 2.5Ghz
Graphics Card - Intel(R) HD Graphics
Total Memory - 1751

They had more ram than you and they also have a quad core.... I believe you only have a dual core?

looked it up. it is two.... all i3 are two cores.... that guy must have had a typo.

i found this:

http://www.game-debate.com/games/ind...%20Scrolls%20V

i put in your computer specs and it said no. i would double check in case i made a mistake, but it doesn't look good. if you had the Intel HD 3000, it might be different.

I'm inclined to agree with Loki, more ram or a better GPU will probably be needed.

You said you bought it though, have you not tried it? If you do get it running but it's choppy, here's a fairly good tweak guide that gives some ideas of what to play with to get the best from what you've got.

Just be aware that if you try to take it back to the shop and say it won't work on your computer because of the low spec they're not likely to give you your money back or a refund (it does not mean they wont).

They are'nt leagaly obliged to because technicaly you should have checked before purchase.

However you are more likely to get sympathy if you go in and say it was bought as a preasant and you've already got it.
