Default S.t.a.l.k.e.r.

Has anyone played this game? For those that haven't, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. stands for Scavenger, Trespasser, Adventurer, Loner, Killer, Explorer, Robber. It is a survival horror FPS with a bit of a Fallout feel to it. It's all open world and one of, if not the most immersive games I've ever played. I sit there in the wee hours of the morning, headphones on playing this in my room and it's a feeling like no other. It's a game where you feel terror when you're hiding from a mutant, happiness when strolling through a "nice" area of the game and even sadness when an NPC you've worked with or passed by on the road die. One time there was an NPC named John Meat (The name generator is pretty hilarious) who was one of two guards outside Freedom's base who I passed quite often because I did missions for Freedom and join, thanks to my mod, joined their ranks. Because my mod, among other things, makes it so any entity can spawn anywhere, one day a Controller and some zombies (mod addition) spawned outside the Freedom base. No big deal right? Wrong. Controllers have immense psychological powers and can "zombify" Stalkers, causing them to turn hostile. So as I came out of the base to help fight the enemies off and as I was looting the bodies of the zombified Stalkers I came across John's body and had a strange moment. I felt sad about losing him. So I carried his body back to the guard post and propped him as best I could against the sandbag and laid his rifle across his lap. It was a fairly surreal moment. But so anyways has anyone played this game?

I agree that it is intense experience; I spent most of my time in the underground areas expecting to get slaughtered horribly.

I also found it very lethal, especially toward the beginning when you only have a pistol; when you do obtain an SMG the ammo is still like gold-dust.

I have owned all three(might be more) of them for some time now. But have never gotten around to playing them.

From what i read its a good game, if short but worth playing.

I have only played the first one; however, I am considering picking-up the rest

Although the plot is not as immense as some games, I found the lethality made it longer than a walk through might indicate as I was very careful and still needed to keep returning to (nominal) safety. If you are great at FPS then it might be quicker.

I'm still working on SOC and I do like it. I do however have a few complaints.
The nights aren't dark enough for me. I want a reason to use my flashlight.

and you really don't get good guns until late in the game.

Vanilla stalker is ok but the game needs to be modded to be fun.

Clear sky is going to be hard for me to play since it doesn't have iron sights for pistols. So there's another mod I need.

I hear that there's allot of broken mechanics that detract from the gameplay.

I have the Oblivion Lost mod which makes it so...
-You can join factions
-Adds cut enemies and weapons
-Anyone and anything can spawn anywhere
-Weapons and ammo are named after their real life names
-Makes it so when using irons it doesn't zoom in
-Adds 2 "boss" enemies, Burer the Dwarf leader in the Dark Valley underground and one another somewhere that I forgot the name of, I think it's a Controller leader.
-But I think the best part is that it adds blowouts
-There is also ALOT of other stuff it adds

My girlfriend surprised me with Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat a few days after Christmas and I've put 32 hours into SoC haha

also if anyone wants the "True S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Experience" put these on at the same time
