Default My Xbox ruined a disc?

My little brother has been using the Xbox 360 quite a lot lately, putting a lot of time into Lego Star Wars III. He played the game earlier today, and it worked fine. When he had finished I watched some Star Wars bonus material on the Blu-Ray player for a couple of hours, before going back to playing "The Old Republic", and my brother returning to Lego Star Wars III. Note, the disc was at no point ejected, yet when he turned on the Xbox and started the game, the Xbox said "Disc Unreadable". Well, I restarted the machine, thinking it was just a glitch, but the same text popped up.

I ejected the disc to check if it was scratched, and to my shock I saw a circle which went around the disc, about a centimeter (and a half?) from the edge of the disc. A damn perfect circle. I checked every other Xbox disc I had, and none had a similar circle, so I think its a scratch that has been caused by the machine.

Can Xbox`s do this? Is there anyway for me to confirm it? The game was bought less than a week ago, so it is kind of pissing that it just suddenly breaks without any human contact.

[Flerden] 9:05 pm: Why the hell can't he just go offline if he goes to watc tv?

My Xbox did the same to my Fallout New Vegas. Though I believe it was due to the console being knocked whilst the game was running. Did that happen with yours or was it completely random?

Regards,
Jake.

I have never had that happen with any of my games, ever, nor have I heard it happen to anyone that I know who owns an xbox. If I were you I'd try taking it back, they're always a chance they'll give you your money back/try repair the disk or give you store credit or something.

And yeah, if the xbox moves at all, it can damage the lasers or the game inside, so always remove disks before moving.

Nope, anything but the start button on the Xbox has not been touched.

I doubt the store will refund it or anything, since they have no return policy on video games.

Where did you get it from :S

You never know, if you say that it hasn't worked or something they might give you benefit of the doubt. Happened to me once, I dropped a game and scratched it quite a lot, took it back and they gave me a new copy.

If it was a gaming store I would, but this is a super market.

(looks for a link)

My bad, I think it is out already, and is the one you have...My Star Wars knowledge is low, but I remember seeing a game advertised in gamestation lately, the graphics looks amazing. I think you could choose whether to be on good side or dark side. Is that what you have now?
