Default Space Marine

Bought Space Marine on thursday there and have just completed it.
I must say i was very very disappointed in the game, it was pretty obvious when meeting the inquisitor that he was batting for the Chaos side, i like a twist u dont see in a game. ( can an inquisitor be easily corrupted when dead?)
The game play was nice and on hard it was bloody difficult in places.
I thought they just could have done better with the story....
Have any of you guys played it and is my critisim on the story line to harsh what are your takes on it...

Now trawling throught the game trying to get all the servo skulls

If I fail then I am fucked

The campaign I played 2 levels of and was already bored with it. The playstyle is just hack and slash. The multiplayer is pretty nice though.

Yeah, the story line sucks... I bought it about a month ago and have only really played it this weekend. Got to the final battle but haven't finished it yet (died a few times but CBA to listen to his blabbing again for now).

A few things annoy me:
- bugs (stupid audio logs that can't be picked up)
- meltaguns which basically work as flamers
- inquisitors that are pretty obviously baddies
- that I can't shoot heretical allies in the head and kill them

Still haven't found much of a use for the lascannon or stormbolter yet... the first is no match for the stalker and the second is too inaccurate for anything other then mowing down traitor guard. On the other hand I do love the boltgun: give me infinite ammo and you can keep all the other guns.

Played and completed pretty quickly, I was slightly disapointed in the overall game, the online was ok but no way good enough to keep me hooked, selling it on flea bay now.

I was expecting alot more, guess ill have to wait for dark millenium

I have about a hundred hours clocked on the Xbox, and am about to pick up the PC version as well to play with some people who bought it for the comp.

[Flerden] 9:05 pm: Why the hell can't he just go offline if he goes to watc tv?

The lascannon is awesome. Two to three shots traitor marines and is highly accurate in zoom mode. Its the best way to take them out. I also use it to pinpoint strike the chaos sorcerers.

Overall, my disappointment was in the LENGTH of game play. It was MAYBE 7 hours? Graphically it was very impressive (albeit a little linear) and I truly felt like a Space Marine going against so many hordes of enemies but story felt abrupt. And yes, the "point click kill" stuff got so old so quickly.

totally agreee with all the points, have now gave up on getting all the servo skulls as am back to playing rage ( great game but online gets tedious so quick). i thought the online was prettywank as well, played about 4-5 hrs and just couldnt get into it, hopefully when they do another one ( am pretty sure they will) it will be a lot better perhaps a better story where u choose ur destiny perhaps from aguardsman viewpoint..

If I fail then I am fucked

In the future, I'd like to see a game that is from a strategic level. Maybe Apocalypse in scale, or even larger. The most we've seen so far is Company -(+) in the first Dawn of War.

There is Rites of War and Final liberation, both turn based rts though rather old now. Still worth a look though, Final Liberation has live action cutscenes and such.

Though the best 40k video game has been Chaos Gate. Turn based again, this time commanding a Battle Company, a few squads at a time with rpg progression mechanics. You get very attached to the individual marines as they gain experience, progressing through the ranks, it's a kick in the guts when one of your favourites dies.
