Worlokked, have some rep for summing up my thoughts on the whining I hear over this game.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

It's the same as any game these days, really.

That said, I got into playing at a high level in the days of skill-based games like UT, Quake and Tribes, before all this iron-sighting, arbitrary two weapon limit bollocks. I'm entirely opposed to games where you're punished for being new to the game by not having the equipment you need to play at a viable level, but thrown to the wolves by a horrible matchmaking system to go up against these infinitely better equipped and more experienced players.

All this bullshit about unlockable weapons and perks are toxic nothing short of toxic to competition, as they serve only to keep someone playing until the next map pack instead of giving a level playing field that relies entirely on skill instead of how many hours you've managed to grind into the game.

Team Fortress manages to get around this by having weapons never be better or worse than another, only utilized in an optimal way depending on your team composition and playstyle. Not at all like "Oh, here's some ex-soviet shit we dug out of a museum for you. Now go compete against the guys who have laser-guided explosive orbital space-cock barrages."

STOP THE FUCKING PRESS!

How about this? Instead of crying like a little girl about 'realism', find ways to counter it. And before you bitch, there are ways. There are always ways. It's the exact same thing as people crying about campers.

Rockets got you down? Take enhanced life/explosive armour perks. Snipers? Stay down, go around, be unpredictable. Shit. Want to know a good counter to those unreachable guys with sniper rifles? You've got it! Fucking rockets!

If you can't beat them, they're the better player. No questions. God, I'd hate to see how people complaining about shit like this would do given one game of arena Quake or Unreal. You'd be crying about 'spawnkillers' and 'unfairness' before you had a chance to spawn.

In short, grow a pair and play. If you want realism, sign up for the military. It doesn't make for good gameplay, and thus is not wanted. This might sound harsh, but games these days cater far too much to bad players and crybabies as it is.
I so agree with this.

Rockets, Everywhere, All the time. I once played a round of Metro that literally was nothing but engineers lolrandomly shooting rockets from one side to the other side. Unlike the BC2 rocketlauncher, this thing is extremely noobfriendly because of the idiotically huge AoE for something supposed to be a AT rocket. The rocket also seemingly got a speed upgrade over BC2, so dodging is almost impossible. Even more damning is that the flak jacket does almost nothing to stop it. and then as cherry on top, it's pretty underpowered against tanks so nobody saves them up for tanks and rather shoot them in a general direction of a infantry. Having more then enough rockets to last a life (what, about 6 when you add a explosive vest?) is making sure everyone that is bored, or just want cheap kills, spams the everliving shit out of them, all the time.

- hitscan is off
Meaning when you shoot when someone is about to kill you, you don't kill him no matter what you do, because the game doesn't register that you shot. Or, when you hit someone thats moving visually, you are actually hitting his shadow.

-Clipping bugs
Laying in corners of buildings is a bad idea, because your legs might poke trough. or the enemy can lolrandom slash a wall in hope that the stab animation will go right trough the wall.

and so forth, and so forth
I think you should try excellent BF2 mod Project Reality. Excellent adversial teambased shooter, almost simulation and playerbase is best i encountered on these types of games. Shame that many cater especially to mainstream games these days, where reactions of players comes before tactics. Although BF3 is quite good since last patch, i want tactics and teamwork in my games and only thing that comes to my mind is Project Reality. And it has lots of ex-military guys playing it, so they are on same mind lvl like me instead of these adhd shooter fans. Wished they would make Project Reality on new Frostbite engina, that would be great, but team isnt huge and playerbase never will be cause teamwork comes before looking at how many kills you got.

I find that this game is good, but its a little too realistic for me. Also as the tech in these games get more futuristic the idea of skill starts to disappear, an example being auto shotguns a gun that says "I can aim in a general direction and have no sense of skill or honor". I ended up buying MW3 instead, because in my mind there is still a sense of skillfulness to it(minus most high value killstreaks).

The fact that you need to get close enough to slap the enemy if you're slinging an autoshottie is completely besides the point, I guess? Almost every time someone complains about balance, there's a simple thing to remember. It's not a lack of balance, you're probably just terrible at the game and/or too stuck in your ways to adapt to the situation at hand.

Again, I revert to my previous statement about Unreal and Quake. People would complain about balance all the time in these games, and these people were unwaveringly those who were either new at the game or piss-poor at it. Case in point, I was haunting one of my usual UT04 deathmatch servers. Some kid joins and starts complaining about how the shock rifle is overpowered because every time he'd use it, he'd seem to die instantly. The reason? He'd stay still to shoot, and secondary fire to fire a slow-moving projectile. By this point, I was just plain programmed to shoot any shock core at this distance. Every time I saw him using the weapon, I'd explode his shock core two feet from him. It wasn't that the weapon was too powerful. He was just unable to multitask and learn that his strategy got him shut down every single time.

As far as recent shooters go, Battlefield 3 is proving to be brilliantly balanced. The only imbalance is really on the part of Dice having one or two silly level design options. (Why. Why the fuck would you silly pricks put vehicles on Seine? There is no valid reason for it.)
Other than this, fixing the US spawn on Metro to have more exits and you've successfully fixed every glaring problem in the game.

Just thought I would share some thoughts on Back to Karkand:

1. The fact they added new weapons (2 for each class and 2 general ones) is pretty awesome and IMO great additions to the game, even if the guns themselves are a bit overrated by the online community ATM.

2. The maps themselves are pretty meh. I don't mind the actually maps themselves, its more this mini-conquest type mode, where one team starts off holding all the bases and the other team has extra tickets and needs to assault the other team and capture their flags ASAP.

Its just too complicated for most people it seems, as the majority of people that seem to play when me and my friends are playing just don't understand that they have to get their a**es in gear and capture those points.

At least when things are neutral both teams inability to understand the purpose of conquest (i.e. they care too much abou their K/D ratio) at least balances thing out.

Overall for a free map pack /update its obviously a steal, but I find myself prefer the first maps, and again, wishing there was a few more maps with no vehicles.

I have just started playing BF3 online and i must say im impressed. I dont get what the whole BF3 v MW3 thing is about though as i have found both games play *shock and surprise* completely different.

To my personal preference i would lean more to MW3 as i find it more "fast and furious". However i have enjoyed the break from MW3 and have found BF3 a more relaxing shooter (would that be ironic?).
