need to fund purchase of a kindle, since Black Library seem to release stuff cheaper and earlier as ebooks these days, so I'm starting to sell my old print copies, starting with the very best, a quartet of the limited edition novellas they've released.
Pains me to sell them, but that shiny new data slate isn't going to pay for itself!
Priced comparatively to ones which have sold lately.
Sadly I can;t justify the cost of those, I like BL a lot but the limited editions piss me off.
Anyway, a note on the kindle. Unless you have a really compelling reason, buy the really cheap one. The keyboard is pointless (I have it and i use it about three times a year) and the 3g I barely use anyway. The kindle store is OK but you only need 3g to buy books on the move - on public transport etc. I did it once for a laugh and afterwards gave up. You have wifi anyway and most places there is wifi you can use and is much faster. I leave all wireless turned off anyway as it so drastically increases battery life.
I guess you could take the non-3g touch not the plain kindle if you wanna spend the extra 20 quid, but the side buttons are perfectly good and the touchscreen may be fun but it is a bit of a gimmick.
I loved getting them at the time, and they are absolutely brilliant books, they really drip with character, but I can't justify hanging onto them at the moment, I'm shifting tons of my old BL books in favour of digital editions as "it's the future".
Thanks for the advice regarding the kindle - the "basic" 4th gen was the one I was looking to buy, as I agree with you - the other features all just seem to be pointless bells and whistles - I'm looking to replace my books, not my PC!
I've plugged it elsewhere but as soon as you have the kindle download Calibre - http://calibre-ebook.com/ . It is the swiss army knife of ebooks, it converts almsot any format to any other format, lets you edit metadata etc and can be used to send the files to your kindle. Free too
LazyG - cheers for the advice, other people have mentioned calibre as well, so I have downloaded it and managed to get my library pre-prepped for the impending kindle purchase. It took some getting used to but I think I've got it cracked now!
